And just like that, it is springtime. I mowed only 6 days ago and the yard could already use it again.

But, it is going to have to wait…. got things to do.

Speaking of things to do, I just want to let all y’all know that the first weekend of May is going to be CRAZY with things going on around here.

From Grove — Food Truck Friday, Art in the Garden, Celtic Days — to Monkey Island — Cinco de Poker Derby — to the South end with Burning of the Socks and a Cedar Port Poker Run, there will be something for everyone.

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the official lake level is 742.06’ with no generation. Lake temps are starting to push into the low 60s.

City Hall Closed - Grove City Hall will be closing at 3:30 today and not reopening until Monday morning when they will open at their new location at 1201 NEO Loop, which gives them more room for all it takes to keep Grove running smoothly.

Azalea Days - The next 3 Thursday evenings, starting tonight at 7 pm, are designated as Azalea Days at Lendonwood Gardens in Grove. This is a (Free!) opportunity to enjoy the gardens with the azaleas in all their glory, along with live music, fire pits, and even a cash bar. Sounds like a great spring evening in Grove.

Colonial and Civil War Days - Dubbed a Walk Through Time, Har-Ber Village in Grove is the place to be this weekend for their annual Colonial Times and Civil War era celebration. Immerse yourself in the 1860s with a variety of happenings, including period demonstrations, reenactments, artillery groups, and much more! Today and Friday are Education Days, and then the museum is open at 9 am on both Saturday (until 3 pm) and Sunday (until Noon).

Youth Art Show - The Grand Lake Youth Art Show is this weekend, April 19 & 20, at Grove Community Center, 104 W. 3rd St.Be sure to stop by to see all the amazing talent from schools and home school students around the lake. This show is presented by Brush and Palette Art Gallery and Club, located 18 W. 4th Street in Grove.

Sip & Shop - Join the fun at Safe Harbor Harbors View Marina for libations and a day of shopping. "Sip N' Shop" 'til you drop this Saturday, April 20th. There will be an amazing selection of new items for 2024 - don’t miss it!

Get Your Grove On - The 3rd annual “Get Your Grove On” Christian Music Festival happens this Saturday at 11 am on the lawn at Grove City Hall. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a day of music and fellowship. And, food trucks!

Old Bulldog Band - The “Old Bulldog Band” will perform at Big Shots Saturday night as a fundraiser for the 2nd Chance Pet Rescue ($25 per person admission). It’s a 7:30 show, so don’t be late!

Earth Day - Sunday afternoon at 2:00, there is an Earth Day Celebration at Bernice State Park with kid-friendly crafts, naturalist activities, giveaways, and fun for all!

Langley Library Online Auction - The Friends of the Langley Library are hosting their annual online auction and fundraiser. Check it out HERE.

Briefs & A Look Ahead:

  • No yoga in Langley this week. Missy will be back next Thursday.

  • Blind Swine on Duck Creek is scheduled to open for the season on Friday. April hours are 11 am to 9 pm, Friday through Sunday, but if the weather is a little sketchy, might call to make sure they are open.

  • Mooney’s is now open 7 days a week - opening at 4 pm Monday through Thursday and at Noon Fri, Sat & Sun.

  • Trivia happens every Tuesday at The Anchor at 7 pm and Game Show Night happens at 6 pm on Saturday nights.

  • Wednesdays are now Singo Night at Pickels in Langley, starting Wed the 24th, from 6 to 8 pm.

  • Hero’s Deli, already a Grove favorite, is close to opening their second location in Langley. Stay tuned!

  • Lendonwood Gardens is looking for artists to display at Art in the Garden, happening on May 4th.

  • The Grand Lake Family YMCA has scheduled a Triathlon for June 8th. Awesome!
