Alrighty then… let’s do this thing!

There is nothing quite like a July 4th Independence Day Celebration at Grand Lake, and this year will be one to remember.

Everybody and everything is going bigger. All of the big fireworks shows have met or exceeded their fundraising goals, and it feels like there is more live music all over the lake than there has ever been.

And don’t forget about the special rules all weekend long in Duck Creek and Woodard Hollow… no wake means no wake!

Anyway, let’s get to what you are here for. Information. But do keep your head on a swivel and an eye on the other guy. You never know.

And here is what you need for this July 4th weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - The lake level as of 9 am is 749.6 with just 2 spillway gates open, and they are not moving out much water. BUT, they are moving out more than is coming in, and the lake level is dropping and stabilizing. Lake surface temps are hitting the upper 70s. The lake is a little murky, and be aware of debris out there.

Fireworks - I think this covers all of bigger on-the-water shows. Sorry if I missed one…

  • Independence Day Grove — Friday, July 3, Fun starts at 5, fireworks at dusk, Wolf Creek Park. Free watermelon, live music, food trucks, foam pit, and fireworks over the park.

  • Grand Lake Fireworks in Disney — Thursday, July 3, at dark, between the spillways in Disney. The lake's annual tribute show, run by Grand Lake Fireworks, Inc. & The South Grand Chamber.

  • Monkey Island Fireworks at Shangri-La — Friday, July 3 (per site listing), Shangri-La Resort. Part of a full day for America's 250th — food trucks, live music, Alt Shot Horse Races golf event, fireworks visible across the Monkey Island peninsula.

  • Horse Creek Fireworks — Friday, July 3, Horse Creek.

  • Gran Tara Fireworks — Friday, July 3, Gran Tara.

  • Duck Creek Fireworks — Saturday, July 4, 9:30 PM, Duck Creek. The big one — running since 1946, hundreds of boats, air show at 6 PM, live broadcast on KGVE 99.3 FM.

Duck Creek Fireworks & Airshow - This is the big one — Duck Creek's fireworks show has been going since 1946, and this year it's extra special with a full public airshow honoring America's 250th, featuring everything from a P-51 Mustang to an F-16 flyover. Expect LARGE crowds, so plan your spot on the water early. Tune in to KGVE 99.3 FM for live radio coverage.

Saturday, July 4 Schedule:

3:00 PM — Open house at Brent Howard Field (see the planes, meet the pilots)
6:00 PM — Airshow live broadcast begins on KGVE 99.3 FM
6:15 PM — Airspace closes, Duck Creek shut down for the show
6:16 PM — USAF/OK-ANG 138th FW F-16 flyover (2 passes)
6:21–7:20 PM — Rest of the airshow: Pitts aerobatics, Tulsa Warbirds, Corsair, DR-107 aerobatics, P-51 Mustang flyovers
7:30 PM — Airshow ends, waterway reopens
8:43 PM — Official sunset
9:00 PM — Fireworks live radio broadcast begins on KGVE 99.3 FM
9:30 PM — Fireworks! 🎇

Toby Keith Day Raft-up - Grab your boat and head to Woodard Hollow Saturday, July 4th (noon–4 PM) for a raft-up full of music, fun, and patriotic vibes — a pretty fitting tribute to one of our favorite Grand Lakers. Tie up with your fellow boaters and make an afternoon of it.

America 250 Family Traditions - Har-Ber Village is going all-in on the 4th this year — flag raising, a kids' bike parade down Main Street, homemade ice cream, axe throwing, and yes, a watermelon seed spitting contest (Grove's finest athletes, no doubt). Add in sack races, horseshoes, and a family movie in the afternoon, and you've got a solid way to fill your Saturday before fireworks. Runs 9 AM–3:30 PM, regular museum admission applies.

Farmer’s Markets - The Grove Farmer’s Market happens Saturday morning from 8 to 1 on the Downtown Square. And, the Saturday Morning Market has returned in Langley! Happening from 9 to Noon, right next to Reasor’s.
