This Week at Grand Lake - April 29, 2024
Monday Morning!
Good Morning!
And a fine Monday morning it is here at the lake… the sun is out, things are green and growing (by the minute!) and we are ready to rock and roll ourselves right into May, Grand Lake style.
So, for those of you who might be a little newer around here, these emails were a twice-weekly thing for a few years before I made the executive decision - after some feedback from the readers - to go to once per week during the ‘slower’ season.
But now that we are barreling into May, it is time to go back to a Monday and Friday schedule.
By Friday, I’ll have it set up where you can choose to just receive Monday emails, just receive Friday emails, or to receive them all.
And, of course, you can always scroll down to the bottom of any email I send you to unsubscribe if you don’t want to hear from me anymore and don’t care what is happening around the lake.
These Monday emails will be short and sweet, have a link to the latest from The Bum, and a little more local and business-focus while the Friday emails will remain full of the info you need to make the most of your Grand Lake weekend.
So, that’s what is up - let’s get to it…
Today’s Sponsor:
Safe Harbor Harbors View Marina in Duck Creek is one of the premier marinas on the lake, and Saturday is hosting its annual kickoff to summer with the Burning of the Socks from 4 to 7 pm! With vendors, live music, and food and drinks offered by the Blind Swine, this is a family-friendly event that you don’t want to miss. And while you are there, check out all that Harbors View Marina has to offer - you’ll be glad you did!
Lake Level - As of 7 am, the official lake level is 744.47’ with full generation. The lake is up 2.5 feet since Thursday morning, and rising pretty sharply at this point after all the rain in the watershed the last few days. You can always check lake levels yourself HERE.
FULL Weekend Ahead - It’s a jam-packed weekend ahead around the lake with poker runs, food trucks, art shows, and much more, so you really should try to be here. Visit the Events page on the website to make a plan, and the Vacation Rentals page to find a place to stay.
Oklahoma! - Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma continues this week with performances Thursday through Saturday at 7 pm at The Coleman Theater in Miami. Details can be found HERE.
Yoga - LiveBliss in Grove offers a full schedule of Yoga classes throughout the week, and there is donation-based yoga every Thursday night at 6 at the Black Oak barn at Thousand Oaks Resort in Langley. Namaste.
Ribbon Cutting - Friday at 5 pm there is a Grand Opening celebration and South Grand Chamber Ribbon Cutting at Grand Lawn Supply on Monkey Island. And it is an early Cinco de Mayo celebration - a perfect start to your busy weekend.
Quilt Guild - The Grand Lake Quilt Guild meets at 10:00 Friday, May 3 in Room 6 of the City Hall building, 104 W 3rd, Grove, OK. Members are encouraged to come and visitors and guests are welcome. This month’s presenter is Joan Ballew from JB’s Creative Quilts in Edmond. More information about the guild can be found at www.glocquiltguild.org or on their Facebook page.
The Grove Public Library - Check out the April Newsletter where you can see all of the upcoming events. As always, check out their FB page HERE for more info and updates.

Rise & Shine - a new breakfast and lunch spot in Ketchum, is targeting a June opening.
Do you enjoy these newsletters? If so, maybe you want to buy me a coffee or 5 for my time in putting these together. It’s certainly not required, or even expected, but it’s always appreciated.
