This Week at Grand Lake
On to the rest of the year!

Good Morning!
Is it just me, or does this kind of feel like a half-way “New Year’s Day”?
The math doesn’t completely work out, but it’s the first Monday at Grand Lake after the July 4th ‘event’. So we are now on to the ‘rest of the year’.
There are still plenty of things going on, but I do have one little gripe.
I’m seeing some events coming up that are called an “End of Summer” party or bash or whatever.
AND THEY ARE IN EARLY AUGUST.
Um, no. That is not the end of summer, nor will it ever be the end of summer.
Now, in fairness, I guess these events have more of a “Back to School” theme, which is fine, but call it that.
As someone who made a decision a LONG time ago that a career in education wasn’t for me, and that has grown children…
You are not going to end my summer just because some people have to go back to work and some kids have to go to school.
Just sayin’…
I mean, that’s like promoting Bud Light as a sponsor at a big raft-out in rural Oklahoma.
You’ve got to know your audience. Know what I’m sayin’?
Anyhoo, let’s get to what you are here for, and that’s what is coming up this week at Grand Lake:

Speaking of the rest of the year, Fall is a super popular time for off-roading in Disney, so don’t wait to get your rooms booked at the Historic Dam Hotel in Disney. And while you’re there, you can shop at the awesome, lake-themed Disney Island Outfitters downstairs.
Lake Level - As of 6 am, the lake level is 744’ with no generation. Water temps are well into the 80s.
Newcomer’s Monthly Meeting - The monthly meeting of the Grand Lake Newcomer’s Club, where all are welcome, is Tuesday at 10 am at Grove Christian Center. Delaware County Clerk Barbara Barnes will be the speaker, talking about the history of Grand Lake.
Shrimpfest - Formerly Lobsterfest, Shrimpfest is this Friday night at Shangri-La. And I’m telling you that because there are still a few tickets left to this annual Grove Rotary feast and auction fundraiser that has always been a sellout in the past. Visit the Grove Rotary website HERE to get your tickets now.
Yoga - Instructor Missy Martin is now hosting an additional Yoga class on Thursday nights at 6 at the Black Oak Barn at Thousand Oaks Resort south of Langley. This is a donation-based class, just like the Saturday morning class, and is open to all. Mats are even provided. Whether you are experienced in the practice, or a new guy (or gal) like me, everyone is welcome. Namaste.
Raftouts Ahead - This Saturday is Aquapalooza in Ketchum Cove (details on that HERE), and now I’m seeing that The Sharky’s crew is maybe trying to get a Splash Bash put together for the following weekend, again in Ketchum Cove. Stay tuned.
Nunsense II - Get ready to laugh again at Nunsense II - The Second Coming. Yep, the Little Sisters of Hoboken are back at Playmakers in Grove with several performances coming up, beginning July 21st. To reserve your seats now, call and leave a message at (918) 786-8950 or email [email protected].
No Poker Run - If you are not on Facebook (and Good for You!) you might have missed that the GLOC Poker Run that was set for Saturday, July 29th, has been canceled. This was the first event leading up to the return of the GLOC Shootout in 2024, which is still going to happen. Planning for that is well underway. But, no poker run this year. Insert sad face here.
Grove Public Library always has a busy week. Yoga, arts and crafts, and learning about plants are just a few of the things on this week’s schedule. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.
