This Week at Grand Lake
August? Already?

Good Morning!
Huh. August. How about that? Time does not slow down, does it?
It is back-to-school season (including the sales tax free weekend this weekend) so that means fall activities starting up, families getting busy, and fewer trips to the lake for a lot of you.
But there is still plenty happening around the lake - so don’t be a stranger.
I’ve got a busy morning, so I’m going to get after it… here is what you need to know for this week at Grand Lake (hint: it’s a pretty quiet week) -

Back To School Bash - The First Christian Church in Langley is hosting a Back To School Bash at Langley City Park on Tuesday at 4 pm. I’m not sure about the details, but I’m guessing games, food, and fun - hey, it’s a bash!
Yoga - Thursday evening yoga at 6 at Thousand Oaks Resort is open to everyone. Mats are even provided. Whether you are experienced in the practice, or a new guy (or gal) like me, everyone is welcome. Follow the signs to the Black Oak Barn in back. Namaste.
Health and Wellness Fair - Grove Public Library is hosting a Community Health and Wellness Fair on August 4th, from 10a-2p. This FREE all-ages event will include health screenings, community resources, program information, children’s activities, a community blood drive, giveaways, and much more! Everyone is welcome!

Booster Club Golf - The Ketchum Booster Club is hosting its annual fundraiser golf tournament Saturday at The Coves. It’s an 8 am shotgun start to beat the August heat. I’m not sure if there are still spots open, but HERE is a FB post with the info you need if you want to play. Go Warriors!
Grove Public Library always has a busy week. Besides the fitness fair mentioned above, you will find yoga, tai chi, a tie-dye party and plenty more are on this week’s schedule. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.
Second Printing - The South Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the second printing of the “Coffee Table” book recounting the history behind the construction of the Pensacola Dam and the dramatic impact it has had on all of northeastern Oklahoma. It traces the roots of an idea to provide electricity to The Cherokee Nation to what has now become home to the one of the most exciting recreational based economies in our nation. Plans call for 1500 copies of the book, Grand Lake, the Crown Jewel of Oklahoma, to be arriving sometime around the Labor Day weekend and will be retailing at the same price, $50.00 per copy, as when the book was initially introduced at the 2015 Tulsa Boat, Sport & Travel Show.
To claim a copy of what will surely become a collector’s item once again, recounting a truly remarkable feat, just reach out to The south Grand Lake Chamber via e-mail at [email protected]m or visit the chamber’s office in the GRDA Eco-Systems Building in Langley or place your order by telephone at 918-782-3214.
