Good Morning!
For those of you here at the lake - did you catch that hue this morning? There was a hue, no doubt. A momentary bright orange sky to start the day.
It was pretty awesome.
There are a lot of back to school events happening over the next week or so. Be on the lookout for those - and I’ll be sharing what I know about.
Anyway, I think I’ve got my deck mostly cleared of other people’s projects and can get some work done on updating the Grand Lake Living website.
That is my plan for this week and I’m excited to share it with you when it’s ready.

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the lake level is 743.7’ with a little generation. Water temps remain summertime warm hot.
Newcomer’s Club August Meeting - The monthly meeting of the Grand Lake Newcomer’s Club is Tuesday at the Grove Christian Center at 10:00 a.m. This month’s speakers are Jacklyn Smittle & Jeri Fleming from GRDA. Jacklyn will share about the GRDA’s 5 W's and Jeri will tell us about programs offered by GRDA. There's a break with snacks between the speakers and the biz meeting - it's a great time to make new friends, and there are lunch and discovery options after the meeting. All are welcome.
Groovy on Grand - This weekend is the annual Woodstock on the Water, hosted by Arrowhead Yacht Club over in Leon Russel Cove (Lawheaad Hollow). I’m telling you that today so that you can plan ahead for the overnight raft-out that on Friday night. Show up, tie up, and raft-out all weekend long.
End of Summer Family Bash - The Anchor at Shangri-La is hosting an end-of-summer blowout this weekend. “End of Summer Family Bash” at The Anchor starts with a 3 vs. 3 Basketball Tournament Friday (7:00), then a Cornhole Tournament Saturday (7:00), and a 5 vs 5 Wiffle Ball Tournament Sunday (6:00). Blood Drive - Shangri-La Resort is hosting a Blood Drive on Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm in the resort conference room. To make an appointment, call (877) 340-8777 or visit obi.org.
Yoga - Thursday evening yoga at 6 at Thousand Oaks Resort is open to everyone. It’s a donation-based class and mats are even provided. Everyone is welcome. Follow the signs to the Black Oak Barn in back. Namaste.
Chair Yoga - There is also now a Chair Yoga practice offered on Monkey Island. It takes place on the 11th floor at Vista Towers on Monkey Island every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 am for one hour. The cost is $12 per session!
Grove Public Library always has a busy week. You will find family yoga, chair yoga, tai chi, a class all about plants, and plenty more are on this week’s schedule. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.
Second Printing - The South Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the second printing of the “Coffee Table” book recounting the history behind the construction of the Pensacola Dam and the dramatic impact it has had on all of northeastern Oklahoma. It traces the roots of an idea to provide electricity to The Cherokee Nation to what has now become home to the one of the most exciting recreational based economies in our nation. Plans call for 1500 copies of the book, Grand Lake, the Crown Jewel of Oklahoma, to be arriving sometime around the Labor Day weekend and will be retailing at the same price, $50.00 per copy, as when the book was initially introduced at the 2015 Tulsa Boat, Sport & Travel Show.
