Good Morning!
Man. It’s like take your breath away hot out there in the middle of the day, huh? Do me a favor and be careful out there, alright?
So, this time of year, I get confused.
There are 52 weeks in the year, but somehow it works out that The Will Rogers Rodeo in Vinita AND the Grove Pro Rodeo AND Rodeo Miami 2023 all happen AT THE SAME TIME.
And it is this week.
The Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo in Vinita starts Wednesday night and runs through Saturday night and the Grove and Miami rodeos happen Friday and Saturday nights.
Anyway, if you’ve never been to a rodeo, you should go. It’s some good, clean, family fun.
But, here is what else you need to know for this week at Grand Lake.

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the lake level is 743.4’. with some generation. Unless I missed something, the target elevation from August 15 to September 15 is 743’, so they will probably continue with some generation. And, believe it… the water is warm!
South Grand Chamber Meeting - Thursday at 11:30 is the monthly South Grand Chamber Membership Meeting. Contact the Chamber at 918-782-3214 for details and to RSVP.
New Newcomer’s Lunch - The Grand Lake Newcomer’s Club is hosting their “New” Newcomer’s lunch on Thursday at The Anchor at Shangri-La at 11:30. This event is for current members and new members to get acquainted. If you are not a current member - we ask that you please let us know that you would like to join us for lunch. If you are not on Facebook, I have no idea how you are supposed to contact them, but if you are, HERE is a link to their FB page.
Youth Theater & Dance Classes - Starting this week, Grove Playmakers presents an exciting blend of theatre and dance classes for kids culminating in a unique production! Here's what we offer:
Integrated Learning: Our approach emphasizes the value of creativity for new dancers, ensuring it's nurtured for a lifetime.
Performance Bound Classes: For ages 6 through high school, focusing on dance, production design, and theatre technical skills.
Creative Development: Tailored for 4 & 5-year-olds, combining dance, singing, drawing, and acting.
Girls Dance Classes: Elementary-age girls can enjoy the essence of ballet, jazz, and more.
Boys Dance Classes: Learn how foundational dance techniques can enhance sports performance and prevent injuries.

Yoga - Thursday evening yoga at 6 at Thousand Oaks Resort is open to everyone. It’s a donation-based class and mats are even provided. Everyone is welcome. Follow the signs to the Black Oak Barn in back. Namaste.
Chair Yoga - There is also now a Chair Yoga practice offered on Monkey Island. It takes place on the 11th floor at Vista Towers on Monkey Island every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 am for one hour. The cost is $12 per session!
Grove Public Library always has a busy week. You will find family yoga, chair yoga, tai chi, virtual bowling, line dancing, and plenty more are on this week’s schedule. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.
Grand River Dam Paddle! - Do you know about the big event happening specifically for paddlers on Labor Day, September 2nd? Well, you do now. All skill levels and paddle crafts are welcome! Canoe, kayak, pedal drives, SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) to even tandems. All are encouraged to participate. Get the details HERE.
Labor Day Weekend in Grove - So, you’ve probably heard about the Boats, Beats, and BBQ event happening Labor Day Weekend in Grove at Wolf Creek Park. And, I think there are some boat races tied into that. What you need to know, though, is that on what is probably the 3rd busiest weekend of the year at Grand Lake, the boat ramps at the park will be closed. At least, that is what I’ve been told. So, if you are coming to the lake to do lake things, or are planning on using that ramp on that Saturday and Sunday, you will need to make other arrangements.
