This Weekend at Grand Lake

Hey Hey - Happy Thursday!

So, how about that tornado warning on the 2nd of January, huh? That will get your attention.

We even got into the cellar, but luckily things had broken up before they got to the Langley and Ketchum area. Heck, it didn't even rain until later.

It's all good, though. New year, new levels. Am I right?

Speaking of new levels, I'm pretty sure I'm just a week away from the new updated website going live.

Crossed some SEO and technical hurdles here in the last couple of days, and all systems seem to be a go.

And speaking of GO - it's boat show season, starting this weekend with the Oklahoma Boat Expo in Downtown Tulsa.

The Shangri-La Resort Winter Gala is set for Saturday, January 21st. This mid-Winter party gives you a reason to get to the lake and relax. Come on!

Lake Level - As of 9 am, the lake level is 742127 with little to no generation. Lake temps are mostly in the low 40s. Bundle up!

Oklahoma Boat Expo - It's happening this weekend (Friday thru Sunday) at the Cox Business Convention Center in Downtown Tulsa. All but 2 Grand Lake boat dealers will be on hand with the goods, so if you are in the market, you'll want to be there. Wine Share! - The First Friday Wine Share of the year happens tomorrow (Friday!) at the new Flower Bar in Grove on N. Hwy 59. Flower Bar is an awesome new gift and flower shop, and this is the perfect chance for you to stop in and say hey. As always, just bring yourself, a glass, and your favorite bottle of wine to share. And a snack, if you are so inclined. All are welcome!

Quilt Guild - The Grand Lake O' the Cherokees Quilt Guild has moved! Meetings will now be held in the Grove Community Center, Room 6, located at 104 W 3rd in Grove, OK. The first meeting of the year will be Jan 6, at 10:00. Judy Leberman will be the speaker. Meetings for the rest of the year will be held the first Friday of each month at the Community Center. Visitors are welcome.

Grand Lake is #4 - Did you see this... Grand Lake comes in at #4 nationally in terms of page views on the Lake Homes Realty website in 2022. Grand Lake had 636,154 pageviews in 2022 and ended the year with 244 listings for lake homes and lots. For context, Lake Hartwell in Georgia/South Carolina was tops on the list with 701,133 page views and 668 listings for lake homes and lots. See for yourself and get more context HERE.

Dance & Youth Theater - Dance and Youth Theatre classes begin the week of January 9th at Playmakers in Grove. These classes will culminate in a program coming up the last week of March. Excellent!

Sold! - For those that might have missed it, the Grove Civic Center has officially been sold, and is been remodeled into a shopping center. The reason I bring that up is that many groups have relied on the Civic Center building for their events over the years, and they will be looking for new venues until the city can build a new civic center type of property, which they are talking about over by Wolf Creek Park. I know that the upcoming Grand Lake Boat Show (scheduled for March 17, 18, & 19) has been moved to the Craig County Community Center in Vinita. Stay tuned for more updates on new locations for all of your favorite events.

Skate Again! - It's the last weekend for skating at the City Hall synthetic ice rink in Downtown Grove. Skate rental is available and it will be open to the public from 4 to 9 on Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 on Sunday.

Grand Lake Newcomers - The 2nd Tuesday of every month (so.. next Tuesday) at the Grove Christian Center at 10:00 a.m. is the time and place for the monthly Grand Lake Newcomers Club meeting. There is always a brief time of socialization before the meeting for those that would like to come a few minutes early. This month the speaker is Lee Cathey, the Vice-Commander of the American Legion - Grove - Post 178. He will be sharing the mission of the American Legion along with the rich history of the American Legion here in Grove going back to the 1950s! After the meeting, there is the option of lunch at Los Palmeras - located at 570 W 3rd St. Guests are always welcome at our meetings!
