This Weekend at Grand Lake - Hello, February!

Good Morning!

How about all of this sunshine!? It’s been fan-damn-tastic, although I guess it is supposed to rain this weekend. Oh well.

And what about that daybreak this morning? Just gorgeous. There was definitely a pinkish hue…

So, as you probably know, the big news from the last week was the fire and total loss of the Arrowhead Yacht Club clubhouse and restaurant.

There has been a big groundswell of support on Facebook for Joe, Brenda, and everyone associated with Arrowhead, and there were quickly talks of a local benefit to assist those who may be impacted through loss of income, etc., because of the fire.

But, the Arrowhead management has a plan in place to take care of all of their workers, so the community benefit and celebration for everything Arrowhead over the decades will still happen, but it’s going to be a few weeks to let things settle.

I’ll keep you updated.

Alright… let’s move! Here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 8 a.m., the lake level is holding steady at 742.26’, with some generation ongoing. Water surface temps are primarily in the lower 40s.

Tulsa Boat Show - Continues through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Tulsa. HERE is a little more info, including a rundown of those great businesses that support the Grand Lake Living brand that will be on hand.

First Friday Wine Share - It’s that time again! This month, head to Still Waters Day Spa in Downtown Grove (above The Table) for the February Wine Share. It starts at 6, and all you need to bring is a glass, your favorite bottle, maybe an appetizer, and, of course, yourself. Oh, and any friends you want to bring along. Good times!

Twisted Cats - The first big fishing tournament of the season happens this weekend with the Twisted Cat Outdoors series visiting Grand and Wolf Creek Park for the 1st time. If chasing big cats (fish) is your thing, I think you can even still get registered. HERE is a link to their Facebook page with more details, and weigh-in is at 4:30 at Wolf Creek - I bet there are some big fish!

Congratulations! - Everyone is invited to attend the "Come and Go Reception" in honor of Suzanne Boles which is to be held at the Playmakers' Theatre from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 6th. Suzanne is being presented with a Community Service Award by the Oklahoma Arts Council. Well deserved!!

Brush & Palette Art Club and Gallery - Tuesday, Feb. 6th 6-8 p.m. Valentines Paint Party an Acrylics on canvas by Karen Clary. Classes are $30 non-members, $20 members students. For more information, or if interested in joining call 918-786-9698.

Chocolate Affair - The annual Hope of Hope Chocolate Affair is next Wednesday night, February 7th, at 6 pm at the Craig County Fairgrounds in Vinita. More info, including how to get tickets, can be found HERE.

Now Open - The first of the new Shops at Grand Meridian are opening today (Thursday!) with Grand Lake Fitness Center and Grand Lake Tanning being the first to open their doors. Word on the street is there might be a soft opening of Sassy & Classy Bootie-Q on Saturday.

New Restaurants - A couple of new places to eat are open in Grove. Mosa Hibachi & Sushi opens today (Thursday) at 1620 S. Main Street. And, the new Legacy Eatery is now open at 574 W. 3rd. They open at 11 am daily, except Monday, when they are closed. Also, Changos Locos Taqueria at the entrance to Monkey Island reopens this weekend - at 11 am Friday, Sat, & Sun. Oh - and there is also a new pho restaurant, Jay Pho, opened in Jay. Awesome!

Eagle Pass - You do know about all of the bald eagles that you can see doing their thing down below the dam this time of year, right? If not, here is some info on GRDA’s Eagle Pass for you.

The Grove Public Library now has a Newsletter where you can see all of the upcoming events in any given week and month. Awesome! As always, check out their FB page HERE for more info and updates.

• Yoga at Thousand Oaks Resort in Langley happens tonight (Thursday) at 6 pm and Sat morning at 10 at the Black Oak Barn in the back of the resort. Come on!

• Trivia happens every Tuesday at The Anchor at 7 pm.

• Shangri-La Resort is hosting a Valentine’s Gala on February 17th.

• Welcome Back? You bet! The annual Welcome Back Poker Run is set for Saturday, March 2nd. Come on!

• The MYKC Golf Scramble is coming up on March 1st, and the COW Week tournament is on Marth 10th.

• The Grand Lake Boat Show AND The Grove Home and Garden Show are both happening March 8 - 10.

• Big Meat Run is set for the weekend of March 15 to 17.

• There is a new boat dealership on the lake… Cigarette Midwest. Awesome!
