This Weekend at Grand Lake
Halfway to March and things are (kinda) heating up!
Good Morning & Happy Thursday!
After being teased a little by the warmer days there is absolutely a chill in the air this morning. So, bundle up.
That's alright, though.
The days are getting longer, birds are singing, and the daffodils are doing their yearly dance with mother nature - so spring is just around the corner!
I really don't have too much on my mind this morning, so might as well get right to it, don't you think?
So let's look ahead to the future, AND see what is happening this weekend at Grand Lake.
Today's Email is Sponsored By...
Poly Lift Boat Lifts are simply the most trusted boat lift solution for knowledgeable boat owners. And, they include the best warranty in the business. Check out their website HERE and contact them today to see how they can help you.
Lake Level - As of 8 am, the lake level is 742.23' with pretty consistent generation. And another sign of spring? The water temps are coming up a bit, now mostly in the low to mid 40s. Sweet!
Open House - Today (Thursday!) at 4 pm is the Kennedy Homes Lake House Open House and South Grand Chamber Ribbon Cutting that you don't want to miss. HERE is a link to the Facebook event with more details and HERE is a link to a map with the location - 142 Private Rd 61, Eucha, OK 74342 - near the mouth of Drowning Creek. The easiest way to get there? Get yourself to Crosby's Catfish, then head North and follow the signs. This home is NOT currently for sale but is being offered as an example of the quality you can expect from a Kennedy Homes home. They have several projects going on around the lake and would love to help you with building your Grand Lake dream home.
Chamber After Hours - Also today (again, Thursday!), The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Chamber After Hours at NEO Orthopedics at 2123 S. Main Street in Grove at 5 pm. I think these are typically Chamber member-only events, so I'm guessing if that is you, then you already know. Consider this a friendly reminder.
C.O.W. Week in Grove - C.O.W. Week, Change Our World Week, is an annual philanthropy project founded by Grove High School students and there are 2 fundraisers happening this weekend. There is the C.O.W. Garage Sale happening Saturday morning in the Performing Arts Center lobby, and then Sunday it's the annual COW Stampede 5K at 3 pm. Get more details, plus info about an ongoing online auction, on the Facebook page HERE.
Speakeasy Theater - The Speakeasy Reader's Theater at The Playmakers’ theatre in Grove will wrap up with a hilarious show this Sunday, February 19th at 2 pm. Seats may be reserved (and might already be sold out!) by leaving a message at 918 786 8950, or by emailing [email protected]. Heck... you can even get pie! Don't miss it.
Fish Fry! - Everybody loves a good Fish Fry, and there is one happening next Monday night at Ketchum High School at 6 pm for their annual FFA Fish Fry and Labor Auction. Come on - fish and fried taters!
New Spots in Grove - BOOM, the now enclosed sports bar featuring great BBQ & Pizza on top of The Regatta at Sailboat Bridge is now open Also, R Bar Dance Hall & Saloon is now open in Grove, with live music and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights.
Calling All Artists & Artisans - Lendonwood Gardens is issuing its annual call for area artists and artisans to sign up for the 2023 Art in the Garden show set for Saturday, May 6, at the botanical garden in Grove. Area artists are invited to reserve booths for showing and selling their works at the annual show. Exhibitors interested in participating in Art in the Garden may contact Stan Starts at 918-786-5300 or Lendonwood at 918-786-2938 for more information and to request a display space packet.
Eagle's Nest - The same eagle's nest that was established in 2020 below the dam is again active, so GRDA has again implemented a "Nesting Area/No Trespassing" zone near the nest. For those of you who play down on the rocks, it will be easily identified. So, stay away. Or, don't, and be prepared to pay a hefty fine. But it's still prime-time eagle viewing - just go through Langley and head down below the dam and as soon as your cross the river, take a right and wind your way down Eagle Pass and keep your eyes on the trees. It's awesome!
Boater Safety Classes - GRDA's “Kyle Williams Safe Boating Courses” will again be offered at the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley with an emphasis on boating safe, boating smart, and boating certified this summer. All courses will be held on Saturdays, on the following dates: March 11, April 8 and 22, May 6 and 13, June 3 and 24, July 22 and August 12. All courses will be held 8AM to 5PM.
