This Weekend at Grand Lake - Beautiful Weather Ahead!

And, Happy National Margarita Day!

The days are getting longer, birds are singing, smoke is in the air… it’s almost Spring at Grand Lake! And it should be a beautiful weekend…

Just a heads up — there is a ton happening around the lake in March, starting next weekend with the big Welcome Back Poker Run happening out of Cherokee Yacht Club.

[But it is open to everyone, you don’t need to be a Yacht Clubber to participate]

And then there is the Grove Boat Show, the Home and Garden Show, golf tournaments, the Big Meat Run, the Bassmaster Classic, Spring Break fun, Easter — and a lot more.

Anyway, head over to the Events page on the website to get a feel for all of the things coming up. It’s a lot.

I’m getting a late start today, so let’s just get after it, shall we?

Here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 9 a.m., the lake level is holding steady at 742.18’, with some generation. Water surface temps are mostly in the mid-40s and trying hard to warm up.

Last Call - Tonight - Thursday! - is the last Trivia Night of the season at Mooney’s. Don’t miss it…

Membership Meeting - The South Grand Lake Chamber membership meeting is this morning (again, Thursday) at 11:30 at the GRDA Building in Langley. Let them know you are coming if you haven’t already.

No Pizza (Yet) - VIP Pizza at Hammerhead Marina was scheduled to open for the season today. But, they are not doing that. No word on why, or when, but I’ll do my best to keep you updated.

Reader’s Theatre - The first of the upcoming Playmakers Reader’s Theatre performances happens this Sunday at 2 at Playmakers in Downtown Grove. More info on that is HERE.

Tribute To Toby - Sunday from 4 to 9 pm at The Summit at Shangri-La is a celebration of the life of long-time Shangri-La member and Country Music Superstar Toby Keith. The event is open to the public and will feature all of Toby’s food & beverage favorites at the Summit, as well as a sing-along of Toby’s biggest hits led by Terry Jordan.

Shop Local, Love Grove - This month-long Shop Local Chamber of Commerce campaign in Grove runs through the end of the month, with shoppers getting tickets to win a “Love Grove” Gift Basket based on their purchases at participating chamber businesses. Contact the Grove Chamber for more details, and/or just ask local businesses if they are participating as you are out and about.

Paper Doll Project - CASA of Northeast Oklahoma is excited to announce the return of their annual Paper Doll Project, and they are looking for sponsors. Learn more about the project and how you can sponsor a doll and support the great efforts of CASA HERE.

Eagle Pass - You do know about all of the bald eagles that you can see doing their thing down below the dam this time of year, right? If not, here is some info on GRDA’s Eagle Pass for you.

• It’s NEXT weekend! The annual Welcome Back Poker Run is set for Saturday, March 2nd. Come on!

• The MYKC Golf Scramble is coming up on March 1st, and the COW Week tournament is on Marth 10th.

• The Grand Lake Boat Show AND The Grove Home and Garden Show are both happening March 8 - 10.

• Big Meat Run is set for the weekend of March 15 to 17.

• I saw a calendar with something called the Cedar Port Poker Run set for the first weekend in May. Hmmm
