This Weekend at Grand Lake

BMR and Spring Break

Good Morning!

First - a quick update… I tried to get back to Monday and Friday emails this week, but it didn’t happen. But it’s coming. So prepare yourselves, lol.

Now, who’s heading to Disney this weekend? The answer is a WHOLE LOT of people.

Like 10,000 to 15,000 people. Yea… that many… in Disney.

Big Meat Run is a pretty cool deal and now that Mid-America Outdoors has taken over, there is a more structured feel to things.

Whether that is better or not is for you to decide.

But what is certain is that Disney and the entire South Grand Lake area should be forever thankful to the late John Sumner and his family and friends that started this gig 20 some-odd years ago.

Look at it now. It’s crazy.

This will be the first BMR without John, and I know that stories and memories will absolutely be shared.

And if you are a Grand Laker and have never been, it’s worth a Disney drive-thru on Saturday to get a sense of the scale and the number of people this brings to the area.

Whether you stop or not, it’s up to you. Parking is at a premium, lol.

But, wait, there’s more, and here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake…

Oh, hey, make sure to Spring Forward Saturday night!

This Week’s Sponsor:

Avoid The Nest - For you offroaders coming for BMR, the same eagle's nest that was established in 2020 below the dam is again active, so GRDA has again implemented a "Nesting Area/No Trespassing" zone near the nest. So, please stear clear, or, don't, and be prepared to pay a hefty fine.

Imagination Library - More than 370 children under five years old have been registered so far in Delaware County to receive a free book each month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program in partnership with the Grove Rotary Club. The free books are offered to all children under five in the county, regardless of family income. Children must be registered by a parent or guardian in order to receive the books.

There is no charge to register or receive the books. Age-appropriate books are mailed directly to the homes of registered children each month. Parents or guardians may register their children on-line by filling out a brief form at www.imaginationlibrary.com. They also may register by completing a printed registration form available at various public locations, such as public libraries. Completed paper registration forms may be mailed to Grove Rotary Club, P.O. Box 452286, Grove, OK. 74345. Registered children will begin receiving books at their home addresses about eight to 10 weeks after their forms are received. The first book distributed is always the children’s classic “The Little Engine That Could.”
