This Weekend at Grand Lake

Good Morning & Happy Thursday!

I don't know if you've noticed or not, but Grand Lake is on a certified HEATER!

On the same day that it was announced that the GLOC Shootout will be returning in 2024, it was also announced that the Bassmaster Classic is also returning in 2024.

Awesome!

But that all is then, and this is NOW, and this weekend is Welcome Back Weekend at Grand Lake, which includes the only 'on the water' Poker Run we have around here (at least for now!). And a big party at Cherokee Yacht Club on Saturday night that is open to everyone.

But there are also several other Grand Openings and Re-Openings and Welcome Back things going on, so we might as well just get right to it.

Also - things are getting a little hectic around here. As in, you guys are all doing a great job of passing along information and events for me to share.

So, I think it's time to go back to twice weekly emails (Monday and Friday) so I can share everything without overloading you all at one time.

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the lake level is 742.1' with intermittent generation. The water temperature is right around 50 degrees. Are you getting in??

Home & Garden Show - The 25th Annual Grove Home & Garden Show is happening THIS weekend! Hours are Friday from 3 to 8; Saturday, from 10 to 6; and Sunday from 11 to 3. With the Grove Civic Center being no more, this year's location is 102 Lennel Drive, between Jeff Lungren Chevrolet and the baseball complex. Admission is $5 a day or $10 for a weekend pass. Children 16 and under with adults are free. It's time to think Spring and there is not a better chance to meet with Grand Lake area contractors and business owners than this show.

Welcome Back - It's Welcome Back Weekend, which gets rolling with the re-opening of VIP Pizza today (Thursday!) at 11 am. This flyer tells you everything else you need to know for the weekend - including details on the Poker Run.

More (Re)Openings - Along with the opening of VIP Pizza at Hammerhead Marina for the season, there are several other (re)openings happening this weekend as well:

• Prime Meat, Eats & Sweets - In Ketchum, they will have their Grand Opening this Friday at 10 am and will be open Wed through Sat from 10 to 5:30 moving forward.

• Disney Island Outfitters - Lots of fun new items to be had as Disney Island Outfitters is re-opens for the season this weekend. Check them out!

• Safe Harbor Harbors View Marina Ship Store - The boutique opens with a Sip & Shop event this Saturday from 9 to 4. Don't miss it!

• MarineMax Grand Lake - Join the folks at MarineMax on Monkey Island for an Open House happening from 9 to 6 on Saturday and Sunday. Free drinks and light appetizers. Come on!

Grease - GHS Productions are proud to present GREASE: School Edition, this week at the PAC! You won’t want to miss this musical event as Grove's finest take the stage! Show times are Thursday at 7, Saturday at 7, and Sunday at 2:30. For more details and to get your tickets, go HERE.

First Friday - Friday night is the First Friday Wine Share at The Legacy Events Center in Grove at 6 pm. As always, just bring yourself, a bottle of your favorite, a glass, and maybe a snack to share and enjoy the people and great time!

Party Bus! - Island Time Limo is the Grand Lake area's new transport and party bus company! They will be transporting folks around Monkey Island, area Casinos, and other spots around the lake. Calling All Artists & Artisans - Lendonwood Gardens is issuing its annual call for area artists and artisans to sign up for the 2023 Art in the Garden show set for Saturday, May 6, at the botanical garden in Grove. Area artists are invited to reserve booths for showing and selling their works at the annual show. Exhibitors interested in participating in Art in the Garden may contact Stan Starts at 918-786-5300 or Lendonwood at 918-786-2938 for more information and to request a display space packet.

Bond Issue - There is a bond issue coming up for Grove Schools, and they have launched a bond website that will hopefully answer all your bond questions! Check out the info and see what students can look forward to at https://www.groveschoolbond.com/.

Eagle's Nest - The same eagle's nest that was established in 2020 below the dam is again active, so GRDA has again implemented a "Nesting Area/No Trespassing" zone near the nest. For those of you who play down on the rocks, it will be easily identified. So, stay away. Or, don't, and be prepared to pay a hefty fine. But it's still prime-time eagle viewing - just go through Langley and head down below the dam and as soon as your cross the river, take a right and wind your way down Eagle Pass and keep your eyes on the trees. It's awesome!

Boater Safety Classes - GRDA's “Kyle Williams Safe Boating Courses” will again be offered at the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley with an emphasis on boating safe, boating smart, and boating certified this summer. All courses will be held on Saturdays, on the following dates: March 11, April 8 and 22, May 6 and 13, June 3 and 24, July 22 and August 12. All courses will be held 8AM to 5PM.
