This Weekend at Grand Lake - Eclipse on Monday!

95% Coverage at the Lake...

Good Morning!

And welcome to April at Grand Lake…

April is kind of weird around here. It is that Spring shoulder season when Spring Break is behind us and we aren’t quite to summer yet and all the fun ramping up on the first of May.

But it’s coming… we can feel it. Right?

So, last week I asked you about your interest in some kind of Grand Lake Living Fan Club - and thank you to the few hundred of you who voted in the poll.

I really had no idea what to expect the results to be, but here we go: 57.8% said NOT interested. This means that 42.2% would be interested in something like that.

I’ll keep noodling on the idea.

But for now, I’ll keep showing up in your inbox with hopefully helpful and informative Grand Lake info.

Also, for those of you who celebrate, Sunday is National Beer Day. (They will be celebrating at Mooney’s ALL day!)

Alright, let’s get to it… here is what you need to know for this pre-eclipse Weekend at Grand Lake:

Lake Level - As of 9 am, the official lake level is 742.2’ with some generation. Lake temps are mostly in the mid-50s.

Eclipse at Grand Lake - So, next Monday is the big eclipse. Maybe you’ve heard about it. Here at the lake, we are in line to be at about 96.2% coverage at ‘peak eclipse’. The mid-eclipse time for us here locally is 1:51 pm that afternoon, with the eclipse actually starting about 12:33 that afternoon. I guess the jury is still out on cloud cover that day. BUT, if you’ve got yourself some eclipse glasses and can get out on the lake (even not on the lake), it has a chance to be pretty cool. Do yourself a favor though - don’t stare at it with your naked eyes. Mmmkay?

America’s Boating Course - America's Boating Club - Grand Lake offers a variety of courses relating to boating safety, operations, and handling and is offering a 2-DAY Americas Boating Course (ABC) starting this Saturday, April 6, and wrapping up next Saturday, April 13. The course will run from 9 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. each day at the Grove Visitor's Center (9630 US Highway 59N). For more info, including how to register, visit the Facebook event they have set up HERE.

Quilt Guild - Grand Lake Quilt Guild will meet on Friday, April 5 in Room 6 of the City Hall building in Grove. Judi Leberman will take a look back at quilts and how our ancestors made and used them. Judi will lead a shared discussion and personal stories. You are invited to attend this meeting and bring the projects you have been working on for Show ‘n Tell.

BMR Clean-up Run - Looking for a reason to ride in Disney this weekend? Here you go. Everyone who wants to participate will meet up Saturday on Beach Drive @ 10:00 am for a picture. Trash bags will be provided to all. Beach Drive is the dirt road between Hogan's and the Rock Garden.

Gone Fishing - There is an updated list of upcoming Fishing Tournaments at Grand Lake on the website. Also, it is prime-time Spoonbill season.
