This Weekend at Grand Lake - May 3, 2024

It's an Action-Packed Weekend!

Good Morning!

You know Grand Lake summertime fun is afoot when I’m back in your inbox on a Friday morning - so let’s do this!

I’ll be quick up top here so we can get into the details, but a couple of things…

The weather gooroos say there will be some rain and such, but, it sounds like most of it will be concentrated earlier in the day on Saturday.

So it should be that all those things happening Saturday afternoon and evening will be enjoying some perfect May at Grand Lake weather.

Plus, it should be beautiful in Downtown Grove tonight for Food Truck Friday.

Next… the lake. It has gotten big, and it now looks like a lot of the water they got in the ol’ Kansas watershed is starting to make its way into the lake.

And did you see that logjam (literally) up on the north end at the Highway 60 bridge?

I’m not sure if anything has happened with that, but the long and short of it is to be careful if you are on the lake this weekend. ESPECIALLY at night.

The lake hasn’t come up like this in a couple of years, so there is going to be a lot of debris.

All that said, the fun goes on! Be careful, head on a swivel, and let’s get to it!

Today’s Sponsor:

The Market at 216 Ranch ( ← that is a link to their FB page) on Monkey Island offers a great selection of locally sourced products, true to their farm-to-table philosophy. The headliner is always the high-quality beef from the market's own family-owned Hereford cattle ranch, along with a variety of meats including pork, chicken, and seafood. Caleb is always smoking something (meats!), so you’ll typically find some killer brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and smoked chicken. Plus, lots of deliciousness from local vendors including delicious baked goods, side dishes, ready-to-heat meals, desserts, and a bunch of other things you didn’t know you needed. Most of you already know, but if you don’t, then you need to find your way to The Market at 216 Ranch today!

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the lake level was 746.3’ with gates open. But, the kicker is that inflows are still bigger than the outflows, so the lake continues to come up. You can monitor this info yourself HERE.

  • Grove Farmers Market begins its season Saturday morning at 8 under the pavilion on the city hall lawn.

  • Art in the Garden - Saturday morning at 9 is the annual Art in the Garden at Lendonwood Gardens in Grove. I’m not sure if they have a rain date scheduled or not. Here is more info on the event, and stay up to date on any changes on their FB page.
