This Weekend at Grand Lake
A super busy weekend - and it's going to feel like summer!
Good Morning!
So. Much. Happening. This. Weekend.
First, though, if you missed me in your inbox yesterday, it’s because I’ve gone back to the twice-weekly email schedule - Monday and Friday.
Mondays will focus a little more on the local happenings, businesses, etc.
And these Friday emails will focus more on the weekend at hand.
Plus, you can always head over to the GrandLakeLiving.com website to find featured businesses, all the latest on upcoming events, helpful real estate information and so much more.
Anyway - oh what a weekend we have in store this weekend.
Oh - one more thing. After 6 months, I’ve added back the “Buy Me A Coffee” button down below.
This newsletter will remain free and supported by the businesses of Grand Lake as long as I run it.
But, if you are so inclined, you can buy me a coffee or 5 to show your support. It’s appreciated, but certainly not required or even expected.
NOW, let’s get to it - here is what you need to know for this about to AWESOME weekend at Grand Lake!
This Week’s Sponsor:
The Market at 216 Ranch - The barn will be opened up this Saturday from 10 to 1 and filled with vendors, who would love to meet you and give you FREE SAMPLES of some of the delicious products that are offered at the Market.
Caleb will be on the Hooray Grill cooking up different proteins, the resident sommelier will be pouring up wines to pair, and there will be plenty of sides, desserts, and other surprises set up just for YOU. Come on!!
Lake Level - As of 7 am, the lake level is 742.31’ with intermittent generation. Lake temps are still in the 50s, but will come up with lows expected in the lower 60s for the next several days.
The Battlefield Opens - The long awaited opening of The Battlefield, the new 18-hole, par-3 course at Shangri_La is today (Friday!). I bet they are pretty full up today. Got more details, and read all about the latest at Shangri-La, HERE.
Sidewalk Sale - Leading up to tonight’s first Food Truck Friday of the year on the lawn in Downtown Grove will be a community wide sidewalk sale with businesses all over town participating. Click HERE to see a flyer with all of the participating businesses. I also know of a few who are participating but didn’t make it on the flyer - so just look for the sidewalk sales!
Garage Sales - Speaking of sales, this weekend is kind of a community-wide garage sale weekend throughout Grove. I think the local paper has a whole list of folks having sales. Again, just drive around, and get ready to stop often. I’ve also seen that there is something loosely related happening at the south end with a bunch of garage sales around Ketchum and Langley. Seems like a great weekend to buy other people’s stuff!
Food Truck Friday - The first Food Truck Friday of the year happens tonight at 5 pm on the Community Center Lawn in Downtown Grove. Besides a whole bunch of food trucks and great live music, the Grove Area Creative Alliance will be on hand sharing all the great news about the arts and artists in the area. More details HERE.
First Friday Wine Share - It’s the First Friday of the month, and that means it is time for the First Friday Wine Share, which, conveniently, is on the patio at DK Home Accents in Downtown Grove, right across the street from the Food Truck Friday fun. As always, bring your favorite bottle, a glass, and maybe an appetizer and enjoy the good time and beautiful evening. The wine share typically runs from 6 pm to 7:30.
Grove Farmer’s Market - Starting this weekend! The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce's Farmers Market is every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on the Community Center lawn. There you can find a variety of home-grown and home-made goods and produce, including veggies and flowers, homemade breads, desserts, and lots more!
Art in the Garden - Arts and crafts of all kinds will be on display at the annual Art In The Garde at Lendonwood Gardens in Grove on Saturday from 9 to 3. Admission is free with booths throughout the garden displaying a wide variety of works by area artists, ranging from hand-made jewelry to pottery to paintings. Artists will include professionals as well as young students and accomplished craftspeople.
Golf Cart Poker Run - The fun never stops on Monkey Island, and it continues this weekend with the Cinco de Derby Golf Cart Poker Run, benefiting the Monkey Island Trail. Registration starts at 12:30 in the Rex Center in Tera Miranda Shores. HERE is a flyer with more info, and HERE is a link to the map with all of the stops.
Burning of the Socks - The legendary annual event returns this Saturday from 4 to 7 pm at Safe Harbor Harbors View Marina. This popular family-friendly event includes vendors, kids activities, food on site, live music from Yacht Club, and, of course – a big ol’ bon fire to burn those socks - Don’t miss it!
Safe Boating Classes - The FREE GRDA Kyle Williams Safe Boating Classes continue this Saturday at the GRDA Ecosystems building in Langley from 8 to 5. These are great for new boaters, young boaters, and those needing a refresher. Register HERE. There are still upcoming classes on the 13th of May, plus 4 more later in the summer. Get those dates at the link above.
Popular Food and Drink Spot Updates - It’s the first weekend of May, it’s Cinco dy May, and Saturday is the Kentucky Derby. Yep, it’s lake season! Here is an update on many of the popular spots around the lake:
Mooney’s is open Tuesday at 4 pm and Wednesday through Sunday at Noon.
Sharky’s Bar at Hammerhead Marina opens for the season this weekend.
