This Weekend at Grand Lake

The countdown is on!

Good Morning!

The countdown is on to the first big holiday weekend of the year next weekend, but… hey, we’ve still got THIS weekend.

The weather is supposed to be ab-so-lute-ly-freaking-beautiful over the next few days (except for a little rain this Friday morning), although maybe not hot enough for some of you hot weather boaters.

The lake is in perfect condition for this time of year, word on the street is that the fish are biting, there is a fun little festival with food trucks and live music - it sounds like a great setup for a fine Grand Lake weekend to me.

So I’m going to quit with the jibber-jabber and let’s get to it - here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake:

This Week’s Sponsor:

Rocks and Docks Adventure Rentals can get you on the rocks with an ATV rental or push you off the dock with a boat rental. Or both! Located in Disney - check them out today!

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the lake level is 743.25’ with intermittent generation. Lake temps are right around 70 degrees.

Sounds of Summer Festival and Car Show - Marina Del Rey Resort near Ketchum is the place to be on Saturday for their 2nd annual Sounds of Summer Festival and Car Show from 1 to 6 pm. Live tunes from Gusto Dave Jackson, several popular food trucks, the grand opening of the pool at the resort, and a GREAT car show (KD knows some people, just sayin’). All proceeds from this fun day benefit the Ketchum FFA program. Awesome!

Rain Barrels - If you ordered one, don’t forget to pick up your rain barrels at the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley on Saturday, between 10 am and noon. More details on this program HERE.

Pet Adoption Day - Saturday, May 20th from 12 - 3 p.m., Rustic and Rebellious, located at 240 E 3rd St. in Grove, is teaming up with Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake for a Pet Adoption Day! Help some local, loving animals find their fur-ever homes and, while you're there, you'll get 10% off your purchase during the event!

Outdoor Movie Night - The Seneca-Cayuga Nation is hosting an Outdoor Movie Night on the Community Center Lawn in Downtown Grove on Saturday, starting at 7 pm with games, popcorn, and sno cones. The movie starts at dark, and everyone is welcome!

Don White at Mooney’s - There is a special show at Mooney’s on Saturday night starting about 8:30 with the return of Grand Laker and Oklahoma Music Hall of Famer Don White to the Mooney’s stage with a special tribute show to his own self. He’ll be joined by his son Steve White. Get there early folks… it will be a full house.

Saturday Morning Yoga - Get your zen on with a gentle yoga session happening every Saturday at 10 am in the Black Oak Barn at Thousand Oaks Resort in Langley. It is taught by professional yoga instructor Missy Martin and is suitable for any skill level and even for first timers. This class is FREE for resort guests AND locals. This is an 18+ class and the property is 18+.

Grove Farmer’s Market - The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce's Farmers Market is every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on the Community Center lawn. There you can find a variety of home-grown and home-made goods and produce, including veggies and flowers, homemade breads, desserts, and lots more!

The Artichoke Market, but at Flex Time - The Saturday Morning Market returns to Langley this Saturday with spring veggies and other goodies, but it IS NOT in The Artichoke parking lot. It has moved across the shrubs to the Flex Time parking lot and visitors are asked to please not use The Artichoke drive or parking area - there is plenty of room in the Flex Time lot.

The Queen Returns? - There has been a little hullabaloo the last few days after folks saw the Grand Lake Queen (it will always be the Cherokee Queen, no??) out for a little spin. I’ve got some insider info that yes, the Queen is returning this summer, but it’s still a few weeks off. Stay tuned for details.

Vacation Rentals - I’ve finally made a little progress on redoing the website - it’s a one page at a time thing. To that end, there is now a page on the website exclusively about vacation rentals at Grand Lake. If you are looking for place to stay, check it out. And if you’ve got a property you’d like to get added to the page, let me know. You can see that new page HERE.

Safe Boating - It’s that time of year for some friendly safe boating reminders from GRDA. Plus, it’s Safe Boating Week. Read about it HERE.

Hungry? Thirsty? - All of your favorite lakefront spots are now open, with the exception of Eddy’s Lakeside at Shangri-La, which opens next weekend. As always, you can find out about your favorite waterfront and non-waterfront Featured Grand Lake restaurants HERE.

Do you enjoy these newsletters? If so, maybe you want to buy me a coffee or 5 for my time in putting these together. It’s certainly not required, or even expected, but it’s always appreciated.
