This Weekend at Grand Lake - May 24, 2024

Good Morning!

Well then, I won’t waste anyone's time waxing poetic this morning, we’ll just get right to it. Since it is, you know, Memorial Day Weekend at Grand Lake.

Although I do need to say that it would serve us all well to take at least a private minute at some point this weekend and pay respects, however you see fit, to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedoms.

I know I will.

Also, head on a swivel, folks. There will be some newbies out there. And stay away from the private docks — it’s a big lake. Use it.

Let’s get right to it… here is what you need to know for this holiday weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the lake level was 744.47’ with no gates open and ongoing generation. Lake temps are mostly right around 70 degrees. Let’s Go!!

Grand Opening - If you hurry, you still have time to make it to Monkey Island for the Grand Opening celebration of the Legacy of Liberty WW II Memorial Park, honoring Oklahoma’s fallen heroes of WW II at Shangri-La at 10 am (today, Friday). It’s located across from the Monkey Island Airport, and it’s awesome. Even if you don’t make the grand opening celebration, do yourself a favor and make it over there and check it out.

Saturday Morning Reception - The Koster Team of Keller Williams Partners is hosting a Saturday morning come-and-go reception from 10 am to 1 pm at 33134 Browning Lane in Afton (that is right by Cherokee Yacht Club). Get ready for a fantastic day filled with good vibes as they honor our heroes and kick off the summer together! 🎤 Live music on the deck🍹 Mimosas and Bloody Marys 🍩 Sugar Llamas Mini Donuts. Sounds like a great way to start your Saturday!

Fireworks! - There is a big party at Honey Creek Landing Marina on Saturday with live music from House Party starting at 4:30 and fireworks at dark, but they are also doing a 50/50 Raffle with all proceeds going to the local Disabled American Veterans. You can get your tickets for the raffle anytime before the drawing (I believe it is at 8 pm on Saturday) at the Ship Store for $10 a ticket.

Celebrity Boxing Comic Con - Lakeshore Bliss Resort east of Ketchum on Hwy 85 in Duck Creek is the place to be this weekend for Celebrity Boxing Comic Con, happening today through Sunday. Honestly, I don’t know what it is all about, but it’s a thing and it is happening this weekend. It looks like besides the boxing there will be lots of vendors, food trucks, and a full lineup of live music. HERE is a link to the website.

Lawn-a-thon - The Anchor at Shangri-La features summer Lawn-a-thon family fun with inflatable games on the Anchor Lawn starting at 1 pm. It happens Friday through Sunday this weekend, and I think is going to be a thing all summer long on the weekends.

Fish Fry & Auction - If you are showing up to the lake and planning on catching some fish for a fish fry, but you don’t catch any, well… here you go. There is a benefit fish fry and auction on Saturday from 5 to 8 pm at the Ketchum Volunteer Fire Department. They have some great auction items, always delicious fish and fixins, and all the proceeds go to help the fire department purchase much-needed medical equipment.

• Heros Deli is also now open for lunch in Langley Monday through Friday.

• Bradford’s BBQ (YEA!) is opening this weekend at the all-new Ketchum Eats Food Park on Hwy 85 in Ketchum.

• Lakeside Morning Yoga happens Saturday at 8 am on the lawn at Shangri-La Resort behind Doc’s.

• Grove Farmer’s Market is at 8 am on Saturday in Downtown Grove.

• The Saturday Market in Langley happens at 9 am, just north of Reasors.

• Zumba Fitness Classes happen on Saturday mornings at 10:30 at Big Shots. $10 drop-in fee. After class - Happy Hour specials!

• BBQ and live music from Eddie Valen Band at Blue Bluff Harbor is Saturday. BBQ at 4 and the band starts at 6. Everyone is welcome!

• Singo! happens at The Anchor Saturday afternoon at 3.

• Yoga in Garden at Lendonwood Gardens happens Sunday morning at 10 at the Japanese Pavillion.

• There is a free Kids Carnival at the Drunken Rooster on Sunday from 5 to 8 pm.

• There is a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony on Monday morning at 10 at the Veterans Honor Plaza in Langley.
