Alrighty then… might be a little rain around on this fine Friday, but it looks like it is shaping up to be an excellent weekend around the lake. Love it!
The fishing folks will be out in force this weekend with the return of the Big Bass Bash, so if you see a fishin’ boat hightailing it across the lake keep in mind that they might have a $100,000 fish in their boat and are trying to get to the weigh-in in time.
In fact, if I remember correctly from last year, the winning big fish of the weekend was weighed in at the very last possible minute on Sunday. Crazy!
I’ve got some things to get after this morning, so we are going to get right to it, BUT… in case you’ve missed it, the Grand Lake YMCA is having a “Sprint Triathlon” next Saturday morning at Wolf Creek Park as part of the Toes in the Grand weekend.
It’s not as crazy as the full thing, so if you want to get your Saturday off to a great start next weekend with a solid workout, you can get signed up HERE.

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the lake level was 744.8’ with no gates open and ongoing generation. Lake temps are in the low 70s. Awesome!
Final Friday Postponed - Today (Friday!) was supposed to be the first Final Friday celebration in Langley with food trucks and live music. Alas, the organizers have postponed the event due to the threat of rain. It’s probably more accurate to say canceled for this month and they will try again next month. I’ll keep you updated.
Big Bass Bash - As noted above, it is Big Bass Bash weekend at Grand Lake - the opportunity for weekend anglers like you to get out there and catch a little dough. All it takes is to catch that big one! All the details, from rules to registration info, can be found HERE.
Dog-a-Thon - Versa K-9 For Vets and Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake are putting on a 1-mile fun walk with your dog to raise funds for the organizations this Saturday, June 1st in Grove. It is happening from 7 am to 3 pm at the Grove Soccer Fields in Rotary Centennial Park and everyone is invited. The entry fee is $10 per dog, and there will be food trucks and vendors on hand.
Camp Bandage - Free and open to the public, Camp Bandage – Grand Lake on Saturday at Grand Lake RV Resort in Duck Creek from Noon to 4 pm is an educational and fun-filled opportunity for children of all ages to learn critical safety information covering everything from outdoor recreation, water safety, health, first aid, weather, injury, substance abuse prevention, fire safety and much more.
Fairy Festival - There is a Fairy Festival at Lendonwood Gardens in Grove this Saturday from 1 to 5 pm. $5 entry includes magician Doug Anderson, plus music, fairy dances, and many more fairy-themed things. That’s all I know!
