This Weekend at Grand Lake - June 14, 2024

A Fine Father's Day Weekend on tap...

Good Morning!

And a Happy Father’s Day Weekend to all you fine fathers out there. Keep up the good work!

Father Nature is certainly playing along this weekend - low 90s and squarely dialed in on Oklahoma lake-time weather.

Once you’ve been around the lake for a bit, you learn that there is an ebb and flow to the schedule of events around the lake. I’m not sure if we are ebbing or flowing right now, but there is kind of a lull from now until the chaos of the July 4th week.

But, that is perfect.

It gives us a chance to raft-out with family and friends, take a boat ride to the new Island Bar and Grill on Monkey Island, maybe get in a little Saturday morning yoga, do a little fishing, grab some fresh and local food at one of the markets, take in a Mooney’s sunset… you know, do some of the things that make Grand Lake livin’ so awesome.

So go do those things, and celebrate Dad.

Lots of live music out there this weekend, and here is what else you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake:

Trouble On The Water?

  • Tow Boat US Grand Lake - (918) 782-8600

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the lake level was 745.7’ with no gates open and ongoing generation. Surface water temps vary depending on where you are, right around 70 on the deep end and mid to upper 70s the further up the lake you go.

Route 66 Fest - For a little off-the-water small-town fun, head over to Vinita tonight and all day tomorrow for the Route 66 Festival. Live music, food trucks, vendors, kids zone and games - pretty much all the things that make these events great. Get all the details here: https://vinitaroute66festival.com/.

Big Sale - If you are in the market for other people’s stuff, there is a huge sale Saturday morning starting at 8 at the storage units at Grand Meridian Resort in Cleora. You never know what you might find at a sale like this at the lake - several folks are participating and there will be some great finds! Hey - if someone finds a set of old-school trick skis, let me know!

Morrow’s Landing/Oliver’s Twist - Remember Morrow’s Landing, before that Oliver’s Twist, and for you OGs, The Decks before that? Well, it has been bought and it IS NOT a restaurant or bar. It has been converted to a private residence, and apparently, some of all y’all are still going there and parking at the dock and walking up and wandering around like it is still a business. But it is not. So the new owners kindly ask that you stop doing that. I think they have put up some signage on the dock, but if not, now you know.

Ann - Performances of Ann at Playmakers Theatre in Grove continue tonight (Friday!) and Sunday afternoon. It’s the rousing story of Ann Richards, and you don’t want to miss it. More details and how to reserve your spot HERE.

Picture in Scripture - The legendary Picture in Scripture theater near Disney kicks off its final season tonight (Friday) with the premier performance of Ruth: The Story of Redemption. More details can be found HERE, but performances continue on Friday and Saturday nights (except for July 5 & 6) through July 27th.

Do you enjoy these newsletters? If so, maybe you want to buy me a coffee or 5 for my time in putting these together. It’s certainly not required, or even expected, but it’s always appreciated.

Fun & Entertainment

Note - If there is music happening around the lake and it’s not included here, it’s because folks haven’t let me know, and/or, even as of Thursday morning, there isn’t anything on Facebook. Just sayin’.
