This Weekend at Grand Lake

Good Morning!

Well, it has been a week!

A great time was had by all of my crew over the last several days - family, food (LOTS of it), fireworks, floating, wakeboarding, early mornings, late nights, naps, a lot of crappie, memories to last a lifetime - basically, everything you’d want and expect from a July 4th at Grand Lake.

And that means we are turning the corner onto the backside of this summer, but there is still plenty of fun stuff going on.

Starting this weekend with some drag boat races. More on that, and everything else, below.

Let’s get to it, shall we? Here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake:

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the lake level is 744.1’, with little to no ongoing generation and the lake temps are comfortably into the 80s.

Food Truck Friday - The first Friday of the month means the return of Food Truck Friday to the Community Center lawn in Grove from 5 to 9 ish pm. Backwood County will be bringing the live tunes while you enjoy your food truck fare. There will also be a show-n-shine with some of the boats from the Kentucky Drag Boat Association – Wolf Creek Drag Boat Nationals.

First Friday Wine Share - Flower Bar at 4707 N Hwy 59 in Grove is the host for this month’s wine share, happening from 6 pm to 7:30 pm tonight (Friday!). If you haven’t yet been to Flower Bar you’ll love it. Lots of plants, flowers, and home decor. For the wine share, just bring that bottle of wine, a glass, and maybe a snack to share. Always a great time!

Wolf Creek Drag Boat Nationals - It’s drag boat racing time at Wolf Creek Park in Grove. Qualifying starts Saturday morning at 8, and Eliminations start Sunday morning at 10. Gate fees are $15/day, $25 for the weekend, 12 and under are free, and there is a $10/day cooler pass fee. Veterans and First Responders are FREE. Also, for safety reasons, you will not be able to watch the races from your boat. As for the question about rain contingencies - I don’t know! - I’m guessing just dodge a few drops and wait for it to stop, if it even does rain during the event.

Boats, Brats, & Bikes - MarineMax Grand Lake on Monkey Island is excited to welcome Harley Davidson on Saturday, July 8th for Boats, Brats, and Bikes! The Harley guys and gals will set up some of their bikes on the MarineMax lot, and judges and attendees will vote on their favorite for a people’s choice award. Not to mention, there will be plenty of food, drinks, music, and games for everyone to enjoy. And don’t forget to check out our boats while you’re here! Bring your own custom bikes and enter the bike show! Registration starts at 10 am and is open to anyone!

Summer Expo - As with many things that have been at the Grove Civic Center over the years, the Grand Lake Summer Expo is moving to Vinita this year, and it is happening today (Friday!) and Saturday from 9 to 6 pm each day. Vendors, crafters, food trucks - and free admission. Sweet!

Saturday Morning Yoga - I’ve started doing yoga and it’s awesome! You can join in yourself every Saturday at 10 am in the Black Oak Barn at Thousand Oaks Resort in Langley (just follow the signs and the road behind the office to the barn). It is taught by professional yoga instructor Missy Martin and is suitable for any skill level and even for first-timers. This class is FREE (donations encouraged) for resort guests AND locals. This is an 18+ class and the property is 18+.

Saturday Market in Langley - The Saturday Morning Market in Langley, which for years has been at The Artichoke, is now located on the lot immediately to the north of Reasor’s. Starting at 9 am and now with more parking and visibility, this is a great location. All of the same great vendors (and More!) will be on hand to bring you the goods.

Grove Farmer’s Market - The Grove Farmer’s Market now has shade (!) and happens every Saturday morning from 9 am to 2 pm on the community center lawn in Downtown Grove.
