This Weekend at Grand Lake - Sept 5, 2024

Good Morning!

WOW - what a morning out there. Doesn’t get much better…

Speaking of doesn’t get much better, there really isn’t a better time to be at the lake than right about now.

Perfect weather, warm water, all (or most) of your favorite watering holes are still open (not Sharky’s — they are done for the year) and now have football on the TVs… Grand Lake Livin’ at its best.

Speaking of your favorite watering holes… make sure to look them up on Facebook or wherever as hours are starting to change, some places, like Mooney’s, are taking a few days off this week, and some places will be closing down for the season.

Anyhoo, I’m getting a late start because I was outside, lol, so I’m just going to get to it.

Here’s what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the Grand Lake level is 743’ on the dot. Target elevation achieved. Water is warm and ‘Grand Lake’ clear.

Ketchum EATS - The Ketchum Eats Food Park in, well, Ketchum, is hosting their monthly shindig on Friday from 6 to 8 with live music from Harmonic Fusion and great grub from Bradford’s BBQ, The Burger Barn and More, Cregan’s Confections, and a few other surprise guests.

Pickin’ in the Park - The First Friday Food Trucks might be done in Downtown Grove, but that doesn’t mean the fun stops. Pickin' in the Park is back this Fall, starting this Friday, with local musicians coming together to do some old-fashioned pickin' and grinnin' on the Community Center lawn from 6 to 9 pm. This is a community endeavor that is open to the public. All ages and skill levels are welcome to join or just kick back and enjoy a range of eclectic music. Come embrace this pastime with folks who are passionate about their roots and the preservation of our southern heritage. Come sing, dance, and strum at Pickin' in the Park!

Grand Opening - Look out, Grove… here come the big box stores. Ok, maybe medium box, but, you know what I mean. This weekend is the Grand Opening for the new Beall’s store at the location of the old civic center. So while there is not a place for big indoor community events, you can at least do some shopping. Marshall’s and Ross won’t be too far behind.

But… Buy Local - Buy Local, LOVE Grove — the September Shopping campaign hosted by the Grove Chamber has begun. Support your local businesses and your community and get a chance to win an amazing basket of items worth hundreds of dollars! More details of the basket to come with the drawing to be held on October 2nd. Fore The Kids - The 2nd Annual Ketchum Warriors Backpack Program Golf Tournament: “FORE the KIDS” is Monday at The Coves Golf Club. This exciting event, hosted by The South Grand Lake Foundation, aims to support local children through the Family Community Church of Langley’s weekend food initiative. Enjoy a day of golf, delicious food, and fun activities while making a difference.

Library Happenings - There is always something happening at the Grove Public Library. HERE is a link to the September calendar of events.

• Grove Farmer’s Market is at 8 am on Saturday in Downtown Grove.

• Yoga in the Garden at Lendonwood Gardens happens Sunday morning at 10 at the Japanese Pavillion.

• The LiveBliss Yoga studio has moved to Monkey Island.

• Be on the lookout for Grand Lake Kitchen, open now (I think) at Har-Ber Village in Grove.

• Hearing a rumor that Blind Swine is taking over the old Public House location in Grove. Stay tuned…
