This Weekend at Grand Lake

Courage Under Fire and The Best Dam Race...

Gooood Morning!

Good week so far? The weather has been awesome.

Make sure you get out and check out that moon over the next few nights - the warm days and cloudless skies are making for ideal sunset/moonrise cruise evenings.

And make sure you’ve got a little Neil Young dialed up for tunes - it IS the Harvest Moon, after all.

Alright, as I mentioned before, these newsletters are going to change a bit.

One thing I’m going to add, starting below, is a “Local Briefs” section.

This will highlight some local community or business-related things I’ve come across in the previous week - with special attention given to those businesses that are already included and featured on the Grand Lake Living website.

But it won’t be exclusively those businesses - this newsletter is, after all, dedicated to keeping you informed on all things Grand Lake, and that’s what I intend to do.

So, if you ever have anything you think should be included in the new Briefs section - please let me know!

It’s as easy as replying to these emails or hitting me up at [email protected].

Now, on to what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

Trouble on the Water?

  • Emergencies - Dial 911

  • Tow Boat US Grand Lake - (918) 782-8600

  • GRDA Non-Emergency - (918) 256-0911

Today’s Sponsor:

Lake Level - As of 7 a.m., the lake level is 742.68’, with ongoing generation as GRDA draws the lake down to 742’ for the winter months. The lake is starting to cool off, but is still plenty warm for fun and play.

Best Dam Race - What is billed as the Best Dam Race of the Year, the Ultra4USA Unlimited 4-Wheel Drive Racing Series is happening this weekend below the dam in Disney. Lots of events, starting today (Thursday!). But, unlike last year, Hwy 28 through Disney will NOT be closed to traffic. Lots of vendors will be on hand, live music, racing fun on the rocks, and more. Find more details and the schedule of events HERE.

Courage Under Fire Golf - The Courage Under Fire Golf Classic, benefitting the Monkey Island Fire Department, happens Sunday at Shangri-La. Actually, there is a Horse Race event on Saturday afternoon. I’m not sure if there is still room for teams, so either contact Shangri-La or go HERE for details and to register.

Progressive Dinner - It’s time again for a Progressive Dinner in Grove. No sign up is necessary AND it’s FREE!!! Come join in the fun starting at 5 pm on Saturday at Rustic Rehab. The party then moves to other participating merchants: Muddy Pearl, The Local Farm to Table, Made By Holley, and Craft Boutique.

Chuckwagon Dinner Under The Stars - The dinner at Har-Ber Village isn’t until next Saturday, but today (Thursday!) is the deadline to purchase tickets to this year’s Chuckwagon Dinner Under The Stars, a fundraiser for Har-Ber Village Museum. Get your tickets HERE.

Yoga - A free practice (well, donations are encouraged) takes place at 6 pm on Thursdays and 10 am every Saturday morning at The Black Oak Barn at Thousand Oaks Resort near Langley. Keep to the right and follow the signs to the barn. Everyone is welcome!

Grove Farmer’s Market - Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the community center lawn in Downtown Grove.

The Grove Public Library always has a busy week with activities for every age group. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.
