This Weekend at Grand Lake
Pelican Fest Time!
Good Morning!
Well, Fall is apparently going to show its face this weekend with a legit cooldown, but don’t worry - I see 80s on the extended forecast.
The other sure sign of Fall is the return of Pelican Fest in Grove. More on that below.
And, of course, football is in full swing with big games and watch parties ready to go for both Friday night and Saturday morning this weekend.
I really don’t have anything on my mind, so I see no reason to waste anyone’s time.
So, let’s get to it. Here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 7 a.m., the lake level is 742.7’, with ongoing generation as GRDA draws the lake down to 742’ for the winter months. The water temps are down into the mid to low 70s.
Pelican Fest - The 40th annual Pelican Fest gets underway today (Thursday!) with the opening of the carnival at 6 pm at Wolf Creek Park in Grove. Over the next few days, there will be live music, vendors, the carnival, a car, truck, and bike show, and… a parade! The parade winds through town on Saturday morning starting at 9:30. Grove Rotary Golf - The annual Grove Rotary Golf Tournament is tomorrow (Friday!) at Patricia Island in Grove. I’m betting it’s full, but you might reach out to your favorite rotary member if you want to try to get in.
First Friday Wine Share - Head to Rustic Rehab on N Hwy 59 in Grove at 6 on Friday for the next First Friday Wine Share. As always, just bring a glass, your favorite bottle, and maybe an appetizer to share, and, enjoy!
Shootout Meeting - There is a meeting Saturday morning at 10 at City Hall in Disney for anyone interested in helping with next summer’s GLOC Shootout. There is a LOT that goes into this event, and all are welcome to attend this meeting.
Craft Show & Bake Sale - The Otterbein Country Church, located a couple miles west of Highway 82 just North of Langley, is hosting its 12th annual Craft Show and Bake Sale on Saturday from 8 to 4. All sorts of homemade (with love) goodies and hand-crafted items will be available.
Village Clubhouse Sale - The Village at Grand Lake, out by Lundgren Chevrolet in Grove, is having a Fall Clubhouse Sale on Saturday from 8 to 4. Lots ‘o stuff to be had!
Chuckwagon Dinner Under The Stars - You’ve already got your tickets, right? This is your friendly reminder that the dinner is Saturday night.
Fall Festival - Blue Bluff Harbor Resort is hosting its first Fall Festival on Sunday afternoon starting at 4 pm with food, games, and live music from Sarah Lea Mason and Johnny Dale Roberts.
Yoga - A free practice (well, donations are encouraged) takes place at 6 pm on Thursdays and 10 am every Saturday morning (BUT NOT THIS SATURDAY!) at The Black Oak Barn at Thousand Oaks Resort near Langley. Keep to the right and follow the signs to the barn. Everyone is welcome!
Grove Farmer’s Market - Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the community center lawn in Downtown Grove.
The Grove Public Library always has a busy week with activities for every age group. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.
Stakeholder Meeting - Lake O’ The Cherokees Sub-Watershed Association will hold its Annual Stakeholder Meeting on Monday, October 9 th , from 4 to 5:00 PM at the NEO Student Union in Miami. This meeting is open to the public, and can also be streamed via Zoom. More info HERE.

Briefs & A Look Ahead:
A Public Meeting to answer questions regarding the Financial Options to fund the construction in Grove of a new Police Station and a new Fire Station will be held on Thursday, October 5 at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church located at the corner 4th and Main, Grove, OK.
It’s Smoked Prime Rib Night at Bradford’s in Spavinaw on Friday starting at 5 pm.
Mark your calendars for Dec 9th - the date of the Christmas Light Boat Parade in Duck Creek.
Grand Lake Hair Co. will be open and taking appointments next week at their brand-new shop in the Grand Towne Center near Langley.
Next Thursday, Oct 12th, is the next monthly meeting of Grove Chamber at Noon at the Community Center.
The Lake Lodge, a new 10-room hotel specifically designed for visiting fishing folks with covered, drive-thru boat parking, is now open North of Grove.
The 1st annual Wheels and Water Poker Run is set for October 28th. All of the stops are on the lake! Stay tuned for details.
Ground has been broken at Grand Meridian Resort in Cleora for a new retail center called The Shops at Grand Meridian that will be located right next to The Drunken Rooster. The first announced business - Grand Lake Fitness.
