This Weekend at Grand Lake

Good Morning!

I’m sliding into your inbox a little later this morning… it feels like there are some corners of the interwebs that are a little sluggish today. At least they are moving slow for me.

So, I’ll keep it brief up here, but there is one thing you should know.

I’ve created a new page on the website all about the arts and artists in the Grand Lake area.

Let’s get to it. Here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 9 a.m., the lake level is 742.7’, with little to no generation. The water temps are down into the mid to low 70s.

Family Fun Festival - The 2nd annual Free Family Fun Festival, benefiting CASA of Northeast Oklahoma, happens this weekend at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Grove. Free children’s activities, a car show, vendors, and a Fish Fry starting at 11 am on Saturday. Get more info HERE.

ROCKtoberfest - It’s a huge weekend of wheelin’ in Disney with the return of Rocktoberfest, including the big Poker Run on Saturday. See the flyer and get details HERE.

Octoberfest - The 36th annual Vinita Oktoberfest returns on Saturday at 9:30 am to Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 120 W. Sequoyah in Vinita. Music, food, beer, fun, and prizes – what else is there??? Don’t miss it!

Taco Fiesta - WAAMI’s Taco Fiesta Fundraiser will be held at the Monkey Island Community Center (across from the Monkey Island Fire Department) on Saturday from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Enjoy “all you can eat” tacos along with a drink and dessert for only $10.00. Come out and support the Women’s Auxillary Association of Monkey Island.

Second Change HUGE Sale - Second Chance Thrift Shop Grove, OK will be having their HUGE GARAGE SALE this Saturday from 8AM-1PM at the Thrift Store on East 3rd in Grove. Come support the pets!

Bingo Fundraiser - Saturday, starting at 6 pm, it’s a Bingo Fundraiser for Integris Health Volunteer Services at the Grove American Legion Post 178. Everyone is welcome. BINGO!

Rock The Barn - The O’Banion Band will be rocking the O’Banion barn at 55900 E 290 road near Monkey Island on Saturday starting at 7 pm as a benefit for a family in need. $20 cash at the gate and BYOB. Big fun is sure to be had!

Yoga - A free practice (well, donations are encouraged) takes place at 6 pm on Thursdays and 10 am every Saturday morning (BUT NOT THIS SATURDAY!) at The Black Oak Barn at Thousand Oaks Resort near Langley. Keep to the right and follow the signs to the barn. Everyone is welcome!

Halloween on Main - Next Tuesday, the 17th, head to Main Street in Langley for Halloween on Main. Fun for all ages, trunk or treat for the kids, food trucks, and more. See you there!

The Grove Public Library always has a busy week with activities for every age group. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.

Briefs & A Look Ahead:

• Mooney’s is now a Smoke-Free establishment. You can smoke (and take your beverage) outside, but not inside, anymore.

• Waterside Bar and Grill in Grove is closing its doors for good on October 16th. End of an era.

• Starbucks in Grove is now open.

• The Punkin’ Chunkin’ Contest that was scheduled for October 28th in Vinita has been canceled.

• Mark your calendars for Dec 9th - the date of the Christmas Light Boat Parade in Duck Creek.

• The businesses that will be in the new Grand Towne Center near Langley are very close to opening. Stay tuned.

• The Lake Lodge, a new 10-room hotel specifically designed for visiting fishing folks with covered, drive-thru boat parking, is now open North of Grove.

• Ground has been broken at Grand Meridian Resort in Cleora for a new retail center called The Shops at Grand Meridian that will be located right next to The Drunken Rooster. The first announced business - Grand Lake Fitness.

• I’ll do my best to add all of the upcoming Halloween events in the area HERE.
