This Weekend at Grand Lake

Another Busy October Weekend Ahead...

Good Morning!

Well then, as those of us who actually live here at the lake know, Fall and the time leading up to Christmas sure seems to be the busiest time of the year.

I’m not talking about ‘look at all the people on the lake’. I’m talking about ‘yikes, there sure is a bunch going on’.

And so it continues, starting tonight.

The Ketchum Scholastic Foundation has its big fundraising dinner and auction at Cherokee Yacht Club tonight and the Northeast Oklahoma Board of Realtors is having a big “Roaring 20’s” themed PAC fundraiser tonight at The Coleman in Miami.

Because, you know, Realtors need political action, too.

The point is, that there is a lot going on.

Oh, and if you are interested, HERE is a link to a little info about a couple of Missouri St. University biologists doing some conservation outreach and research here at the lake, specifically focusing on invasive fish species.

Anyway, let’s get to it - here is what is happening this weekend around Grand Lake:

Trouble on the Water?

  • Emergencies - Dial 911

  • Tow Boat US Grand Lake - (918) 782-8600

  • GRDA Non-Emergency - (918) 256-0911

  • GRDA Lake Rules, updated 9/22

Today’s Sponsor:

Lake Level - As of 9 a.m., the lake level is 742.65’, with little to no generation. The water temps are now down into the mid-60s.

Grove Chamber After Hours - It’s happening tonight (Thursday!) from 5 to 6:30 at Har-Ber Village. I think these are supposed to be for Chamber members, but I doubt if they kick you out. But go ahead and RSVP to the Grove Chamber at 918-786-9079 just in case.

Golf Tournament Take 2 - The South Grand Chamber’s Golf Tournament at The Coves was rained out a couple of weeks ago, so they are making another run at it tomorrow - Friday - with a shotgun start at Noon. It’s going to be a beautiful day and they still have room for players and teams. Contact the South Grand Chamber at 918-782-3214 to throw your hat on the green.

Old Time Gathering and Music Festival - Several genres of music will fill the air at Har-Ber Village throughout the day (9:00a to 6:00p) on Saturday and there will be a Contra dance (Gotta admit, I don’t know what that is) starting at 6:00 pm in the Event Tent, all ages are invited to the dance and the caller will be teaching so no experience is required!

Fall Shopping Pop-Up - Come join the fun at The Layk Schoolhouse on Monkey Island on Saturday from 10 to 4 for a fun day with a variety of vendors, food, and shopping at this Pop-Up Shopping event.

Boatober Bash - MarineMax on Monkey Island is the place to be starting at 10 am on Saturday for their Boatober Bash with music, food, a costume contest, prizes, and, of course, lots of boats on display.

Hoot & Howl - The Hoot & Howl Camp-R-Treat at Bernice State Park on Saturday from 6 to 9 pm, is sure to be a hoot for the whole family! Bring your little ghouls and goblins to the park to enjoy a fully decorated campground with candy at every turn. Each campsite will be decored by camping guests as they hoot and howl to win your vote as the best-decorated campsite of 2023.

Yoga - A free practice (well, donations are encouraged) takes place at 6 pm on Thursdays and 10 am every Saturday morning at The Black Oak Barn at Thousand Oaks Resort near Langley. Keep to the right and follow the signs to the barn. Everyone is welcome!

The Grove Public Library always has a busy week with activities for every age group. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.
