This Weekend at Grand Lake - More Parades!

Good Morning!

You might want to make sure those decorations and inflatables in your yard are buttoned down today.

It’s a little breezy. And, no burning today, OK?

A couple of things this morning…

First, GRDA has a new website. Have you seen it? Check it out at https://grda.com/.

I like it. It feels like it is easier for YOU to find the info you need.

Under the Resources tab, it looks like they have everything you might have questions about — permits, lake rules, lake levels, maps, etc — in an easy-to-find place that makes sense. Good job, GRDA people.

Second, some kind of big news in Ketchum as Grand Nation, Inc., is moving into the old Ketchum Middle School (because Ketchum has a beautiful new Middle School attached to the High School) and opening an Early Childhood Learning Center for ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

As we all know, childcare is an issue all over — so this is great news for the South Grand Lake area.

The Ketchum location will also house their prevention programs: Drug-Free Communities, Partnership for Success, and Craig County Healthy Living/TSET.

Alrighty then - on to what you need to know for This Weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 8 a.m., the lake level is holding steady at 742.55’, with some ongoing generation. Water surface temps are down to the upper 40s.

Dueling Pianos - The Grove Rotary invites you and your friends to the Dueling Pianos Holiday Party, happening Friday, Dec 8th, at The Legacy Event Center in Grove. Doors open at 6 pm and the piano fun starting at 7 pm. Tickets are $50 and can be bought online at auctria.events/RotaryDuelingPianos.com.

Christmas Breakfast & Dessert Auction - This popular annual event benefitting Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake happens Saturday at 9 am at First Christian Church in Grove (new location!) More details HERE.

Christmas Boat Parade! - The annual Lighted Christmas Boat Parade in Duck Creek is on Saturday. There is a pre-parade Dock Party at 3 pm at Cherokee Yacht Club, and everyone is welcome to come check out the boats. The parade sets out at 5:30 for their loop through Duck Creek — again, they don’t leave Duck Creek, so public viewing options are limited. But it’s still cool to see!

Grove Parade - The Grove Christmas Parade is Saturday at 6 pm. The parade starts at Har-Ber Rd. and Main St and makes its way downtown and ends at Cheapo Deapo. Always a great time in Grove!

Holiday Sing-a-Long - Monkey Islanders Jack & Nancy Adkisson are once again planning their fun Christmas Carol Sing-along Holiday Celebrations at Shangri-La Resort Hotel. The first happens this Sunday from 2 to 5 pm and is open to the public, and free! Terry Jordan leads the sing-along this week with Andre Jones & The Showstoppers from Grove High School joining the fun!

Ice Skating! - The Grove Ice Rink on the Community Center Lawn in Downtown Grove continues this weekend Friday 6-10 PM, Saturday 3-10 PM, and Sunday 3-8 PM.

Santa’s Ozark Mountain Village - The holiday tradition continues at Har-Ber Village in Grove this weekend — but ONLY on Friday night because of the Grove Christmas Parade. Click HERE for more details, and to see about getting tickets in advance.

Christmas Lights - The popular drive-thru display “Park of Lights” at Twin Bridges State Park is open nightly through December 30th.

• Yoga at Thousand Oaks Resort in Langley happens tonight (Thursday) at 6 pm at the Black Oak Barn in the back of the resort. Come on!

• First round of interviews for Java Don’s and Grand Lake Fitness at the new Shops at Grand Meridian are this Friday at Drunken Rooster. Email [email protected] for details.

• Grand Lake Family YMCA will break ground on their new gym in Grove next Tuesday at 10:30 am.

• The Legacy Event Center in Grove is hosting its 2nd annual Christmas Party on Friday, Dec 15.

• Penguin Jump at Mooney’s, next Saturday, the 16th, at 10 am.

• There is another Sunday afternoon Holiday Sing-a-Long at Shangri-La Resort on December 17th.

• Tuesday Trivia at The Anchor starts at 7 pm.
