This Weekend at Grand Lake - A Very Merry Christmas!

Family time...

Good Morning!

And, a Very Merry Christmas from my home to yours…

So, a few things to tell you about this morning.

First, for those of you on Facebook, have you seen the new Grand Lake Vintage group?

It’s pretty cool and is a page dedicated to all things history-related around here.

Lots of cool old pictures, plus some people posting some cool info, like the original Town of Ketchum was actually where Anchor’s End development is now. Who knew?

Anyway, you can check out that page HERE.

And, another thing… Do you guys know John Knippers? He’s locally famous as the SUP guy in the South Grand Lake area.

If you’ve seen a guy out on a board with a dog or dogs, it was John.

Anyway, a month or 2 ago he was the first ever SUPer to complete the Alabama 650, which is a 650-mile race/journey exclusively for paddlers.

And, because of that amazing accomplishment, he’s up for Best Male Performance in this year’s Total SUP Awards. And this is a GLOBAL thing.

So if you are so inclined, and want to support John, and, really, help build the paddle sports here at Grand, go vote for him HERE.

Alright, it seems like there was more I was going to share, but that’s enough for today.

Oh, and as for openings and closings related to Christmas - man, that’s too much for one guy to keep up with. Give your favorite place a call, make sure they are open, and go see them!

Again, Merry Christmas, and here is what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake:

Trivia Hint - It’s a special Christmas Trivia edition of Trivia tonight (Thursday) at Mooney’s. Get your teams ready by using this little hint: Category-Michal Bublé Holiday Duets. Don’t tell anyone where you got the hint. It’s a secret, OK. Good Luck and be there tonight at 7:30 pm at Mooney’s.

Ice Skating! - The Grove Ice Rink on the Community Center Lawn in Downtown Grove continues this weekend Friday 6-10 PM, Saturday 3-10 PM, and Sunday 3-8 PM.

Santa’s Ozark Mountain Village - The holiday tradition wraps up the season at Har-Ber Village in Grove on Friday and Saturday nights this weekend. Click HERE for more details, and to see about getting tickets in advance.

Christmas Lights - The popular drive-thru display “Park of Lights” at Twin Bridges State Park is open nightly through December 30th. Nobody ever confirmed it, but I do think the lights are on at Pine Lodge Resort near Ketchum as well.

The Grove Public Library always has a busy week with activities for every age group. Check out their FB page HERE for ongoing events and details.

  • Yoga at Thousand Oaks Resort in Langley happens tonight (Thursday) at 6 pm at the Black Oak Barn in the back of the resort. Come on!

  • Tuesday Trivia at The Anchor is done until January 9th.

  • The Grand Getaway Mercantile is now open just north of Sailboat Bridge in Grove. Go check them out!

  • Bailey’s Bistro will be closing at its current location at the end of business this Saturday. They will be relocating to ‘somewhere’ on Monkey Island. I’d bet they will be neighbors with Blind Swine.

  • As always, visit the Events page of the website for what is on the horizon at Grand Lake.

Thinking about Buying a Boat?

It’s almost boat show time, and you can see the upcoming shows on the Events page of the website, but I also just put together a Revised for 2024 Boat Buying Guide for Grand Lakers. Check it out HERE and I hope you find it useful.

Do you enjoy these newsletters? If so, maybe you want to buy me a coffee or 5 for my time in putting these together. It’s certainly not required, or even expected, but it’s always appreciated.

Fun & Entertainment

Note - If there is music happening around the lake and it’s not included here, it’s because folks haven’t let me know, and/or, even as of Thursday morning, there isn’t anything on Facebook. Just sayin’.
