This Weekend at Grand Lake - Feb 5, 2026

Spring is going to try to show its hand...

Good Morning!

A couple of things to handle right out of the gate here…

  • I screwed up in last week’s email and didn’t double-check some links. And, because of that, links to next week’s Tackle, Hunting, and Boat Show in Grove didn’t work. Here they are again (working this time), if you want to check them out: Info on the show, and HERE is where you can register (you’ve got to create an account) for the Crappie or Bass tournaments happening in association with the show next weekend. And, if you emailed me to let me know, well…

  • The other thing, I screwed up the email associated with this newsletter when I made the new website live. Now, some of all y’all deserve high praise, because you took the effort, after getting emails bounced back to you, to find and use a different email address. That said, if you have replied to this email newsletter in the past couple of weeks… well, I didn’t get it. My bad. New guy mistake. But not a new guy, if you know what I mean.

But, for this week, enjoy the weather… sounds like we are going to have a great run of 60+ degree days here for a while, so get out there and enjoy it. Or work in the yard. Or on the boat. Whatever you need to do.

And if you’ve got anything you want to get off your chest, to me, well, you can do that now that the email is fixed.

Just reply to this email and let me know if you love or hate the new website, are going to miss the snow we’ve had on the ground, have or know of a business that should be on the new and improved website, need a recommendation on somebody to get something done for you, or, well, anything. Let me know.

Anyway… here’s what you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 741.9’ with little to no generation. Lake temps are in the 30s and 40s.

Tulsa Boat Show - The Tulsa Boat Show continues through Sunday at Sagenet Center in Tulsa. It’s a perfect mid-winter scratch for that Grand Lake itch. Did you hear Steve from TowBoat US Grand Lake on the radio yesterday? He did GREAT!

A Rock Sails By - A Rock Sails By, a witty and heartfelt comedy exploring science, belief, and the unexpected connections that can change us, continues this week with performances tonight (Thursday!), Friday, and Sunday afternoon at Grove Playmakers Theater. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. 🎭 Reserve your seats by calling (918) 786-8950 or emailing [email protected] with your preferred performance date, number of seats needed, and a return phone number.

Grand Lake Birders - Join the Friends of Grand Lake Audubon Society this Saturday at 10:30 am at the Grove Community Center, for their monthly meeting with a guest speaker from the Sutton Avian Institute. Learn about our precious Bald Eagle population, just in time for the special Eagle Watch field trip to Langley! (Eagle Watch 2026 on Feb. 21st).

Eagle’s Nest Buffer Zone - Once again, new activity in an established bald eagle nest, located in an area below the Pensacola Dam main spillway, has prompted GRDA to close access to the area, as it has done in previous years. A portion of the spillway area, popular as an off-roading destination, will also be closed to visitors to help protect the nest. HERE is the latest info, including a map of the closed area.

Restaurant Updates - Our House BBQ is now open at The Hilltop Inn & Suites in Grove, and Red’s House BBQ is now open at the Ketchum Eats Food Park. A couple of local spots are closed for the next couple of months: Doc’s Bar & Grill at Shangri-La is closed until March 10th, and BOOM on Grand in Grove will be back in the spring. Juan Montez at Red Arrow is OPEN as they get their new building built - and by all accounts, it is coming along quickly!

Library - New month, new calendar at the always-busy Grove Public Library. The calendar is HERE.
