And just like that, it is June at Grand Lake, and all that comes with it.

Including the heat, the muggy, and a pretty steady diet of overnight storm chances.

But the weekend days… they should be absolutely beautiful this weekend.

There’s Toes in the Grand, Thunder on Wolf Creek, and the American Heritage Music Festival all happening in Grove this weekend, so plenty to choose from.

The lake is a little big this weekend, and maybe keep an eye out for debris - they had a full-on drainage-cleaner worth of heavy rain earlier this week up in SE Kansas and that ‘stuff’ will be working its way this direction.

But that’s alright… it is just part of being at the lake.

Lake Level - The lake level as of 8 am is 747.31’ with 3 dam gates open and 5 more on the spillways and ongoing generation. Lake surface temps are warming up into the mid-70s. There was a whole bunch of water in the watershed a few days ago, but they did a good job of getting ahead of it, so the lake level is going down. Might be a little murky this weekend.

🎉 Toes in the Grand — The 9th Annual Toes in the Grand Summer Kickoff Festival is happening right tonight (carnival opens!) through Sunday at Wolf Creek Park in Grove — and this weekend is packed. Friday includes the carnival, the opening of the indoor market at Wolf Creek Expo, boat race testing and live music Friday night. Saturday features the Thunder on Wolf Creek hydroplane boat races (12–5pm), a car, bike & truck show, carnival rides, vendors, food trucks, and free live music on the Cherokee Casino Stage starting at 6:30pm with the Jimmy Lee Jordan Band followed by Bobby DeGonia at 8:00 pm. Sunday wraps up with the boat race championship finals (12–5pm). Most activities are free and open to the public — just bring a lawn chair for the music. American Heritage Music Festival - A Grand Lake tradition — the American Heritage Music Festival & Grand Lake National Fiddle Contest is happening Thursday through Saturday at Har-Ber Village Museum and Snider's Campground in Grove. Friday brings a full day of fiddle competitions at the Har-Ber Village Event Center (10am–4pm), plus a Western Swing Dance at Snider's Campground at 8:30pm. Saturday is the Grand Lake National Fiddle Contest with divisions from Pee Wee all the way to Open, capped off with the Grand Champion Competition. Jana Jae & Friends headline throughout the weekend. Food Truck Friday - Ketchum Eats Food Park is hosting Food Truck Friday this Friday, from 5:30–7:30 pm. Grab your lawn chair, BYOB, and enjoy free live music from Kevin Hannah & The Road Benders — rock n roll, rockabilly, country, and a little funk thrown in for good measure. Food on deck includes Red's House BBQ, Casa Garcia authentic Mexican food, and Cregan's Confections & Ice Cream for dessert. Great way to kick off the weekend!

Biz After Hours - The South Grand Lake Chamber is hosting a Biz After Hours Friday, from 5:30–7:30 pm at Grand Towne Center (35028 S Hwy 82, Langley). Owners Larry and Tracy Covert will be there to share their exciting plans for the center — plus there's BBQ and beverages, so that's reason enough to show up. Everyone is welcome, so come meet some great people from the south end of the lake!

Grand Lake Birders - The Friends of Grand Lake Audubon Society holds their June meeting this Saturday at 10:30am at the Grove Community Center. This month's guest is retired Army Corps Park Ranger Alan Bland, who'll be sharing a lifetime of knowledge about Oklahoma snakes — how to observe them safely and how they fit into the local ecosystem. (Yes, snakes at a birding club — nature's full of surprises!) Free and open to the public, and they even have a Young Birders Club for the little ones.

BIG Garage Sale - Looking for a treasure hunt this Saturday? South Grand Lake Christian Church is hosting a huge multi-family inside garage sale on June 13th from 8am to 3pm. It's held behind Beau's & Grand Towne Center on East 350 Road north of Langley. Good vibes and great finds — sounds like a perfect way to kick off the weekend! (Might as well stop in at Beau’s while you are in the neighborhood…)

Farmer’s Markets - The Grove Farmer’s Market happens Saturday morning from 8 to 1 on the Downtown Square. And, the Saturday Morning Market has returned in Langley! Happening from 9 to Noon, right next to Reasor’s. And… Piguet’s Farm Store is open this weekend until 2 on Saturday.

Ribs For Kids - Here's a delicious way to do some good before the Fourth — Ribs for Kids is back, offering freshly smoked St. Louis style ribs for $30 a rack (or round up to $35 and every dollar above $30 gets matched). Orders must be in by June 12th, with pickup available July 1–3 at the Grove Public School Administration Parking Lot on S. Broadway. Order online or stop by the Grove YMCA.
