This Weekend at Grand Lake - May 1, 2025

Good Morning, and WELCOME to May at the Lake!

Before we get into all of the things happening this weekend around the lake, I gotta tell you… we’ve had a little rain.

And they had some in the watershed as well.

Which means — big water, debris, etc.

So, right off the top: keep your head on a swivel if you are on the lake, whether you are fishing, cruising, poker running, whatever it might be. Safety first. Mmmkay? And have fun out there!

And I gave you this link last week, but for those of you who like to keep score at home, you can always see the official current lake level and flood control info, straight from the source, at https://stormops.grda.tech/riveroperations.

I will go ahead and tell you that, as of right now, 10 am Grand Lake time, the elevation is about 747.5’ and water is coming into the lake at 71,000 cfs and going out at 47,000 cfs, so we should be in good shape to not get a whole lot bigger.

There is a ton going on this weekend, so let’s get to it…

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the lake level is 747.5’ with gates open on the dam and the east spillways. The current lake temps are right around 60 degrees, and the lake has gotten a little dirty.

Art, Music, & Food Trucks! - Head to Downtown Grove Friday from 5 to 9 for the Downtown Grove Arts Festival & Food Truck Friday. Enjoy live music, delicious eats, and a wide range of local art on display, from paintings and pottery to handmade jewelry and crafts. It’s a great chance to support local artists and kick off May with some fun in the heart of Grove. More details HERE.

Toast & Tour - Kickoff a busy weekend on Monkey Island on Friday starting at 6 pm with a fun night that brings the laid-back vibe of the Grove First Friday Wine Share to the island with live music, food trucks, and tours of Monkey Island RV Resort. Bring your favorite wine to share, meet new friends, and explore one of the lake’s most unique getaway spots. Ship Store Poker Run - Ready to hit the lake and have some fun? The Ship Store Poker Run is back this Saturday, May 4! Cruise around Grand Lake, stop by your favorite marinas and ship stores, and collect your poker hand along the way - all in support of the Ketchum Schools Backpack program. Then head to Sharky’s at Hammerhead Marina to turn in your cards and kick back—it’s opening weekend at Sharky’s, so you know it’s going to be a party. More info on the Poker Run can be found HERE.

Cinco de Poker Derby - If you’d rather roll than ride the waves, don’t miss the Golf Cart Poker Run on Monkey Island this Saturday! Cruise around in your cart, collect your cards, and try for the best hand—plus enjoy drinks, live music, and a full day of fun with friends new and old. All while supporting a couple of great causes, the Toby Keith Foundation’s Kids Corral and our very own Monkey Island Trail. It’s the perfect way to kick off May on the island! Burning of the Socks - It’s officially time to ditch the socks and welcome lake season in style! Join the fun at Harbors View Marina this Saturday for their annual Burning of the Socks party from 4 to 7 pm. There’ll be food, drinks, live music, plenty of good vibes, and a big ol’ fire to throw those socks into as everyone gathers around the fire to say goodbye to winter and hello to summer on Grand Lake.

Customer Appreciation - Kick off lake season island-style at the Customer Appreciation Luau hosted by Shangri-La Marina and Nichols Marine! Head to Eddy’s Lakeside Bar on Saturday from 5 to 8 pm for live music from Three-Dollar Rocket, great food, drinks, and good vibes. Plus, don’t miss the In-Water Boat Show at Shangri-La Marina—Saturday from 10–5 and Sunday from 10–4. It’s the perfect time to check out the latest boats and celebrate with the Grand Lake boating community.

• Sharky’s at Hammerhead Marina opens for the season Friday at 5 pm.

• Starting Friday, Blind Swine Duck Creek will open at 11 am Fri-Sun and 3 pm Tues-Thurs. Breakfast will return Memorial Day Weekend.

• The Grove Farmer’s Market returns this Saturday at 9 am (maybe 8???) to the lawn at the Community Center in Downtown Grove.

• There is another Indoor Farmer’s Market at White Buffalo Lodge near Grove on Saturday from 9 to 2.

• The Anglers in Action Tournament Trail hits Wolf Creek Park on Saturday.

• Time After Time Antique Mall at 57100 Hwy 59 N (north of Grove on 59) is hosting an outdoor flea market on Saturday from 9 to 3.

• The Lendonwood Garden Party is Saturday evening, but you already know that because you’ve got your tickets. Right?

• The South Grand Lake Chamber is hosting a Pickleball Mixer Sunday at 3 at The Anchor.

• The deliciousness that is Sweetwater Farms strawberries are starting to make an appearance around Grove, and at The Market at 216 on Monkey Island. Find them on Facebook to check out where they might be setting up close to you.
