This Weekend at Grand Lake - November 14, 2024

Good Morning!

Another beautiful Fall morning out there… get out and enjoy it because word on the street is that by this time next week it will be 15 to 20 degrees cooler out there.

This would mean it is probably time to consider winterizing your boat, if that is something you do.

Alrighty then… here is what else you need to know for this weekend at Grand Lake!

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the Grand Lake level is 742.07’ with ongoing generation. Surface temps are mostly in the mid to lower 60s.

First Christmas Party of the Year - Kick off the holiday season with the South Grand Lake Chamber's 53rd Annual Banquet and traditional First Christmas Party of the Year on Friday at Shangri-La Resort! Enjoy cocktails at 5 PM, followed by dinner at 6 PM, with a special address by GRDA's Brian Edwards, the announcement of the 2024 awards, and the introduction of the 2025 Board of Directors. Tickets are $75, or reserve a table of 8 for $600, but it might be too late if you don’t already have a ticket or table. Call the Chamber at (918) 782-3214 to find out.

Santa Paws! - Santa's coming to the Second Chance Thrift Shop, 220 E. 3rd Street, Grove, for Holiday photos with your pets and family members, this Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Cost is $10 for a 4 x 6 inch photo in a complimentary Holiday card frame. Additional prints and digital images can be ordered as well. All proceeds benefit Second Chance Pet Rescue. Please have your dogs on a leash and cats in pet carriers. Donations for Pedigree dry and canned dog food, Purina Chow cat/kitten food, and kitty litter for Second Chance Pet Rescue will be accepted. Holiday Crafts - There is a holiday crafts and vendors fair happening this weekend at the old Whoops location in Grove at 102 Lannel Drive. Hours are 9 to 4 both Saturday and Sunday, so go and shop with local vendors, craftsmen, boutiques and get some delicious homemade goodies!

Bird Walk & Bluebird Box Monitoring - Join the Friends of Grand Lake Audubon Society on Saturday from 9:30 to 11 AM for a morning of bird watching and bluebird box monitoring at Grand Lake State Park's Bernice area. This monthly event offers an opportunity to explore the park’s observation areas, monitor bluebird boxes, and contribute to a checklist for park rangers. Dress for the weather, bring water, binoculars, and cameras, and enjoy a beautiful morning immersed in nature.

Benefit Concert - Saturday at 7 PM at The Monkey Bar is a special benefit concert supporting the family of Cheyenne Frost. Enjoy live music from Zimmeroo, The Dads, and DJ Gragg Band while coming together to help with hospital and funeral expenses. A $10 donation at the door is suggested, with all proceeds going to Cheyenne’s family. Let’s show our love and support for this family in their time of need.

Messiah - Professional musician Elizabeth Montgomery will join nearly 60 other performers in the Grove community-wide production of Handel’s “Messiah” at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Grove First Baptist Church. The event is free and open to the public, with donations welcomed.
