Well, they got things rolling last weekend with all of the shopping events happening at the South end, but now that shifts to the Grove area as the holiday shopping season really gets ramped up.

So, get out there and do your duty… buy local and buy often!

Lake Level - As of 7 am, the Grand Lake level is 743.0’ with ongoing generation. The lake level did jump up a little bit with all of the rain, but it is not expected to get to crazy. At this point. Surface temps are in the mid to lower 60s.

Gone Fishin' - The Mercury Marine B.A.S.S. Nation Championship, presented by Lowrance, is happening right now. Today’s (Thursday) weigh-in will start around 2:15 pm and tomorrow’s championship weigh-in will start around 3 pm. Come out and see what the pros pulled off!

Christmas Shopping Season - Some local businesses, like The Lakehouse, are getting a head start on things with open houses tonight (Thursday), but the Grove Merchants Christmas Open House is Friday and Saturday at businesses throughout Grove (Link with participating businesses), and then this is also the kickoff weekend of the Shop Grand Lake Holiday Experience, which runs through December 5th with thousands of dollars in prizes to be given out. Church Bazaar & Bake Sale - Foundation Free Will Baptist Church is hosting its Annual Church Bazaar and Bake Sale on Friday from 10 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm at 57700 East 240 Road in Afton, OK. Enjoy a variety of autumn and Christmas decorations, arts and crafts, boutique items, paintings, jewelry, and more. Second Chance animals will make an appearance both days, and there will be a raffle drawing on Saturday at 2:45 pm, with tickets available for a 50/50 money pot, a fishing guide trip, and a $200 fuel card. Don’t miss the food trucks, kettle corn, and much more for a fun-filled weekend!

Second Chance Scavenger Hunt - The Shebang on Monkey Island is the place to be for the Second Chance Pet Rescue Scavenger Hunt, happening Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm. Come and enjoy a lively scavenger hunt and games with friends and family. Tickets are $25 per person, and after the hunt, indulge in a $10 taco bar. Drinks and beer will be available for just $5 each! While there won’t be an auction this year, you can still support the cause by purchasing raffle tickets for a lottery board or by making a donation.

Audubon Meeting & Potluck -Join The Friends of Grand Lake Audubon Society for their last meeting of 2024, Saturday morning at 10:30 at Har-Ber Village. There will be a meeting and then a potluck directly following. This will be an opportunity to take some time to get to know one another in a beautiful setting while enjoying some great dishes. Bluegrass - It's River Ridge Bluegrass Association weekend at Grove Middle School Auditorium. Ozark Mountain Five will be taking stage at 6pm - doors open at 5pm. And I think they have pie!

Reader’s Theater - Playmakers in Grove is hosting a Reader’s Theater this Sunday at 2 pm, with Pam and Dave doing a repeat of their past performance, bringing you twice the laughter. Details and what to do to reserve your spot can be found HERE.

Biz Happenings - There have been some openings in the business landscape around these parts:

  • Cregan’s Confections is now open Thursday through Sunday at the Ketchum Eats Food Park with Blue Bunny ice cream and lots of homemade sweet confections.

  • Poppin on Grand is your new favorite custom-crafted gourmet popcorn shop, located next to Goodfellas in Cleora.

  • Espresso on the Go Coffee Truck in Disney had a little accident, but Stevie is back in action as Pinky’s Homemade Food and Coffee in Disney. Follow on FB for their hours.

  • A Grand Gathering, a new event venue in Downtown Grove, is now open, or soon to open.

  • Grand Vintage Antiques and Collectibles is now open, also in Downtown Grove.

  • Winterset, the annual banquet benefitting DCCSAN, is Saturday evening at Shangri-La.

  • There will be a Veterans Day Observance next Monday, the 11th, at the Langley Veterans Plaza.

  • Trivia Tuesday at The Anchor, Tuesdays at 7 pm.

  • Singo at Pickles in Langley happens every Wednesday evening.

  • The South Grand Chamber’s Annual Banquet, the First Christmas Party of the Year, is next Friday night at Shangri-La.

  • Handel’s Messiah will be performed next Sunday, the 17th, in Grove.

  • Mooney’s has moved to Winter hours. They open at 4 on Thursdays, Noon on Fri, Sat, Sun, & Mon, and are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

  • The Christmas Parade across the dam is set for December 7th. The lighted Christmas boat parade in Duck Creek and the Grove Christmas Parade are both set for Dec. 14th.

  • The new Rooster’s Bar & Grill location in Grove will not be opening until Spring. Stay tuned!
