This Weekend at Grand Lake - Sept 11, 2025

Gooood Morning!

A lot of craziness in the world these days… feels like more than usual, but maybe it is just because we are all so connected with our devices.

But… and I didn’t even need to ask ChatGPT this - I came up with it on my own - if people spent more time at the lake, Grand Lake in particular, maybe some of the craziness out there would go away.

Just a theory I’ve got…

These warm September days, pretty much perfect boating conditions, even hearing from a few people that they are catching some crappie… well, it just doesn’t get much better than we have it here.

So that is what I’ve got to say about that. More time at the lake…

Oh, and a quick Thank You to those of you who have helped me out by pointing out some broken links… I appreciate it.

Anyway, we’ve got another busy Grand Lake weekend on tap, so let’s get to it!

This Weekend at Grand Lake

Lake Level - As of 8 am, the lake level is 743’.3 with no gates open and intermittent generation. Lake temps are starting to cool off a bit, still generally in the mid-70s.

Birders Birthday! - The Grand Lake Audubon chapter celebrates its one-year anniversary this Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10:30 AM at the Grove Community Center with a special performance by Still on the Hill. Guests are invited to bring a friend and enjoy this unique program in support of the growing Audubon community at Grand Lake. Everyone is welcome!

Taco Bar Fundraiser - Saturday from 11 AM–2 PM, the Women’s Auxiliary Association of Monkey Island is hosting a fundraising Taco Bar at Lake Center Baptist Church on Monkey Island. Come enjoy a tasty lunch while supporting community projects and local outreach efforts.

Saturday Markets - 9 am is the start time for both the Grove Farmer’s Market on the Community Center Lawn and the Saturday Morning Market in Langley next to Reasor’s. Get the goods while the getting is good!

Ground Breaking - This happened on Monday, but the South Grand Lake Regional Airport held groundbreaking ceremonies this week for a new taxiway, terminal, and commercial hangar—continuing its growth from a 3,000-foot grass strip in the 1980s to today’s thriving Grand Lake transportation hub. More great things to come!

Readers at Noon - The Playmakers’ Readers at Noon series returns Sept. 16 & 24 with Nancy Flowers and Stan Starts in a witty comedy where loss meets laughter and even grief has a punch line. Enjoy lunch and the show for $20, or attend the performance only for $10—learn more here.
